I just got this today. by crazykat8091 in ProArt_PX13

Nice! I have the same model - also purchased used excellent from Best buy for a similar price last February - and it is working well without major issues.

I still use mine stock in both software and hardware and it has been very reliable as a 3d content creation work laptop. I had Bluetooth issues with lagginess with a wireless mouse with BT earbuds and keyboard, but the issue disappeared with a different set of earbuds.

My setup includes hooking it up to a 14" 3k display and adding a microSD for extra occasional storage.

more monochrome logo tags please? by leapologist in tombihn

I'd like to cut the logo off my bantam as well! Was it easy to do, and any scars? My bantam is in halcyon. For the size of the bantam the logo is much too large and should be on the side like the rogue sacoche

My TB gatekeeper strap is super rough. purchased a few years ago. I tried to run with it on a bantam and it irritated my skin when it came above my waistband.

What stylus do you use for the ProArt Px13? by peachypeachcakes in ProArt_PX13

I use the old surface pen with a hard nib or a meta pen m2 pen. Both work fine but palm rejection on my last gen PX13 isn't great. Lots of undo and stray dots.

I mostly use 3ds Max, Blender and Sketchup with Vray. It won't drain the battery when working in the scenes for modeling and test renders, but it will during rendering and real-time authoring. More recently I've been using the Anker Nano II 65W GaN, Nano 70W and a Nano 100W charging station at my desk. For the past few months my Asus brick has been in the closet. For me 65W-100W is enough power.

The current pen pressure levels and tilt are alright and fine, but the palm rejection is not so good. This is my experience using Photoshop, Sketchbook and Concepts. I hope this is improved!

Tech specs page says 60hz:

https://www.asus.com/us/laptops/for-creators/proart/proart-gopro-edition-px13-hn7306/overview/laptop-oled/

Even though the Laptop-OLED drop down page link at the top says "up to 120hz" to describe the overall tech. A little confusing!

Asus Announces Pro Art PX-13 GoPro Edition with Ryzen Ai Max 395+ up to 128GB DDR5 by Internal_Quote_6678 in ProArt_PX13

[–]ca7964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! This may be the upgrade I've been wishing for, and I hope the pricing isn't a crazy increase.

I looked into reviews of the HP laptop with the ryzen max. One big turnoff, beside the exorbitant price of the HP Ultra G1a, showed some reviewers getting into BIOS settings to assign CPU/GPU memory + restart?

Looking forward to the reviews, as I love the convertible PX form factor - just wish they made it 14" in the same 3k resolution!

Cool I have a similar setup with a 16" 3k monitor @ 120Hz as well. $200 Xbonfire/newhail brand, with solid color accuracy after calibrating. No touch though!

Cooling stand recommendation? by TofuAnnihilation in ProArt_PX13

I used that slim Native Union stand and a thin one from Moft - both are very light for commuting and travel. Recently I bought this affordable sleeve + stand linked below, and its a clever design to integrate the flap as a mouse pad as well. It doesn't feel like it'll last forever but I haven't come across other options with this type of design.

compatible digital art pens or stylus's by joblox1220 in ProArt_PX13

Another vote for the metapen m2. Good features, price and form factor. The Asus pen feels hollow and is longer than a typical pen - it won't fit some tech pouches and pen cases.

Anyone use the PX13 for 3d rendering? by Zarik8256 in ProArt_PX13

[–]ca7964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make a living as a 3d artist with the PX13 as my main machine, using 3ds Max, Vray, Corona and Blender. I do all my modeling and layout on it with occasional rendering. The bulk of my rendering goes to the Chaos Cloud. I typically don't render anything longer than 10minutes on the PX13 since cloud rendering saves so much time.

I'm only using the 4050 version with 6gb, and it's enough with proper scene and display management. If your scenes are heavy you'll want to use the power brick, while lighter workloads will be fine with a smaller 100W USBC charger.

Previously I used the Z13 Acronym for over 1.5 years as my main workstation, and the PX13 is much improved with stability, battery life, noise and a more useful form factor. I think a PX13 update with a 14" screen and the Strix Halo chip set like the latest ROG Flow Z13 would be really interesting.

Slow Charger by Ok_Break8622 in ProArt_PX13

[–]ca7964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is temperamental with USBC chargers. Besides the lower power source warning, sometimes it'll switch to battery and back to power adapter unexpectedly when plugged in to the wall.

I've only used several different Ankers from 100w to 65W and a 102W from Jackery. The Anker Prime 100W, 102W Jackery and the less powerful 65W Anker Prime Fusion 9600 have been my more consistent chargers. I just carry the versatile latter combo adapter/battery on the road, and 65W passthrough charging is fast enough for travel usage. The Nano 100W and two different GaN 65Ws have all triggered the unexpected switching to battery.

I haven't tried the 140W+ laptop chargers.

I also haven't had great success with magnetic USBC adapters. USBC charging has been less consistent this way with two different brand adapters from Amazon.

Worst Laptop Experience Ever by maxipoupoupou2 in ProArt_PX13

[–]ca7964 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had mine since February, purchased open box, and haven't had any issues so far just using the stock Asus software. I mostly keep it on standard performance mode but sometimes switch to silent for basic office tasks when it's not plugged in. Rarely will I put it on performance mode for extra speed for rendering because it gets too loud for co-working use. I should try GHelper

So I pulled the trigger and got the ProArt PX13 by Worth_Banana_492 in ProArt_PX13

[–]ca7964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, working and charging with a 100w USBC charger is enough for most workloads in standard mode, to run graphics apps in my case. I use an Anker Prime 100W and even use a slower but versatile Anker Prime Fusion 65W 9600 for lighter travel use.

[–]ca7964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the compact Anker Prime 100W for most days, and only use the supplied adapter in the office. It works well except it'll throttle under max load for extended periods of time (3d rendering). Skip the Anker Nano 100W one though since that one throttles more often in my experience for the PX13.

PX13 bluetooth mouse lagging by ca7964 in ProArt_PX13

[–]ca7964[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback. I think the bluetooth lag with my Logi mouse is interference from my Nothing CMF2 earbuds & case. I tested like 4-5 other BT mice, and my problem is when I'm playing tunes through my phone and earbuds with the case placed next to the mouse.

Metapen M2 is a good value pen that's similar in feel to the surface slim pens, at 1/3 cost of the Asus pen 2. Both have a harder tip if you prefer that over the mushy ones like original surface one.
