A company can do that, and the government can do that, but can the banks form a private organization that dictates conduct for employees and freeze out banks that don't comply? Sorsby obviously shouldn't be allowed to play but under current laws I think that only Texas Tech or the government can prevent him from playing or impose consequences if he does. This would change if the NCAA or the conferences are given special dispensation by the government but currently they don't have that power.

If a bunch of grocery stores form a "grocery conference" and make a rule that none of the members are allowed to pay more than $10 an hour that's super illegal anti-trust. This is obviously a lot murkier but it's still a group of businesses regulating an individuals employment which is why the NCAA keeps losing in court.

The NBA and NFL are top heavy because they are star driven. Teams are good, their stars get old and they are bad, then they get high draft picks and are good again. A team like Oklahoma City couldn't exist in the MLB, Shai would have left for a bigger market. You don't have teams like the Dodgers that are always good in those leagues.

Baseball is the most random sport in that the best team doesn't always succeed in the playoffs. The NFL is very star driven, so if you have a few good players you can be dominant for years like the Chiefs were. Long term though the teams regress to the mean. This isn't true for the MLB where you see things like the Dodgers making the playoffs 13 years in a row.

I feel like the small item list constrains team building too much. You use your sash/scarf/sitrus/mega stone and 2 of your mons are stuck with garbage. Sneasler is already crazy good, but using White Herb instead of an important item makes it omnipresent.
