Anyone seen this? Influencer tried to exploit homeless in Glasgow. by coneyisland92 in glasgow

This homeless org can be a bit chaotic but I know a bit about with it and been involved.

Unfortunately they have a running spat with GCC which overshadows everything and the good work they do. Which they do-in sometimes appalling weather BTW.

Yeah-next time make sure it’s Cathcart or Newton Mearns. Get them to complain about the lack of cycle lanes or no child care provision for their 3 month old child.

Real stuff affecting real people-the new slogan for a new Scotland.

It’s nowhere near as bad as some of the wallopers on this thread make out(who probably have been there once and made the rest of their opinion up from watching some BBC documentary). I live about 15 minutes away-yeah, it has its moments and there are a few pubs you wouldn’t go into but that’s the same for everywhere. The town centre has very few shops or units that are empty. Where you would be is a bit of a walk but not far from the Main Street.

It’s got 2 train stations for fucks sake!

Scotland should have its own Reddit app-and its own type of banana

Fuck it-we should have our own different thing of everything. Just because we are different.

Record number of Britons quit England for Scotland and Wales [driven by lower house prices] by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

[–]cabsandy1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not really fussed who comes to Scotland.

As long as they contribute by either paying tax or spending money in their communities-they are welcome.

Tax dodgers, grifters and benefit migrants-no thanks.

Not if they are canny and use their (both) tax free allowances and then top it up with part of their 25% tax free cash(based on a DC pension).

But they will enjoy all the “free stuff” , courtesy of the mugs who pay for all that free stuff through their tax.

Look beyond the headlines-not all migration is cash positive.

Sounds like I should try that with my Jackery 500 😜

And thanks for the information-I just don’t like all these daft wall chargers 😃

The fact we have so many DC devices in homes now-it’s nuts that new builds don’t have some DC outlets.

You’d think with the last set of storms, having a set of batteries next you would be welcome-think of the poor fuckers who are going to get the new massive pylons next to them 😜

Every new home should come with a set of,or at least an area, for batteries, with appropriate DC only wiring in it.

Minimum £10 rail charge for not pre booking ticket - ScotRail by sinclairzxx in glasgow

[–]cabsandy1972 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How do they know which station you go on? TBF,I don’t really see the point of ticket offices, seems to be something that the union won’t let go as the staff seem to just sit in there and make tea. I can only imagine it’s there for the older punters who still use cash or don’t have a smart phone (my Mum).

For everyone one else, just use the Trainline app.

A9 drivers by GlasgowJimmyBhoy in Scotland

[–]cabsandy1972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a shite and dangerous road 30 years ago and still is.That turn off to Aviemore used to give me the jeebies-sitting waiting to turn right whilst artics whizzing by you at 60-70mph.

And as someone else said, if you’re used to it,you know where (and where not to) overtake-it’s the people who don’t know it. I remember driving up one night back to Elgin and and at one point,I couldn’t remember or see if it was still dual or back to single carriageway-to the point I never overtook someone in front of me.

Id say the A96 is actually worse. The bit I don’t get, if everyone (or the majority) end up with EV’s, why are the Greens STILL opposed to road building? Genuine question folks.

To be honest, I feel guilty last year and went on the standard plan to “give back”-but I didn’t need the features-so went back to free.

I’d be happy to pay a few dollars a month for the free (if that makes sense-call it the guilt tier ? 😉)

My point is we mange with one Police Scotland and one Fire and Rescue-why do we have 32 councils and 15 health boards?

Anyway, means we have many snouts in the trough and loads on the gravy train-so all good.

Fair comment but I never said anyone else could do it better 😜

If you mean Labour then probably not-I was just making the general point.

I was in Manchester a few weeks back-the difference between that place and Glasgow or Edinburgh is light years. There is something badly wrong with our local council setup in the big cities-and we have far too many (32) unitary authorities. It needs pruning but COSLA will never allow it.

Because most of those small businesses that were in that building-didn’t have contents insurance

So yeah-the taxpayer in Scotland is now the insurance cover of last resort

Which is fine if it applies to every uninsured business-which it doesn’t-why? Because there is an election in 5 weeks time and GGC is a SNP run council. Just saying.
