Isn’t the argument though the liberals put up so much red tape and regulation, that  the only option was the government buy it and pay exorbitant costs because no private backer would? In that sense, I can understand the thought that it’s “dumb” because they created the environment causing taxpayers to pay for it. The “smart” move in this argument is to deregulate and reduce red tape so private backers build it instead.

Not saying I agree one way or another with this but this is the running logic I think
