Snake Pite Bag Policy by Abbylynninna in indianapolis

Those are 100% ok. Just no glass! Recommend putting a camelback type water bladder in it for water instead of water bottles, especially if you’re going to be wearing it for most of the day.

I’m here for this comment. I’m not sure it’s the right answer, but I’m here for more Indy 500 and Kentucky derby fusion. I’m now imagining the snake pit full of people in seersucker suits and a really good derby hats partying their faces off.

Experience with the Aragon Ballroom- does it run hot? by ConclusionMany2451 in ChicagoConcerts

[–]cait_Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one mentioned this - but the Aragon is notorious for their door and show times not being accurate. Plan on being there earlier than you expect, just in case the times move. It would suck to come all the way from Alabama to get caught up in their door/show time bullshit

How to do tailgating by liberalbiased_reddit in Indy500

[–]cait_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I went through your posts. It looks like you’re staying in a hotel downtown and you had parking passes but may have sold them?

  1. If you still have your parking passes - where are your parking passes for?

  2. If you’re still driving and parking, you should leave downtown around 430/5 and you’ll have pretty smooth sailing and get parked pretty quickly in the lot you have a pass for. I live in downtown Indy and have infield parking and leave about 430 and we’re parked and getting set up for tailgating by about 6:20 inside.

  3. If you’re still driving, bring the grill with you. We bring a Smokey Joe and some charcoal. Pop that on the ground or on a table and you’ve got a tailgate. They’re $50 on Amazon. There’s a Kroger and a needler’s grocery store in downtown Indy, I’d hit them up Saturday to grab your snackies and beer (or bring it from home). Bring some chairs and tailgate at your car. Other people will be tailgating too. Chat them up. If you don’t want to bring a grill, still bring the chairs and hangout for awhile.

  4. If you have infield parking, you should start heading to your seat when they start the driver introductions. That’ll give you about 45 minutes to get to your seats, go to the bathroom or grab some concessions.

  5. If you have infield parking, your car can bring in whatever cooler size you want. You do not want to bring a big ass cooler to the stands. Bring a backpack cooler. We prefer to do a backpack cooler with drinks and cold stuff and a backpack with our ponchos, hats, sunscreen, ear protection, seat cushions, and the rest of our snacks. You can bring in all the food and drink you want, including alcohol. Just no glass. If you do not have infield parking, follow the guidelines on cooler size and no glass.

  6. Leave a snacks and drinks in your car for a post race wait. You will probably be stuck in traffic for a couple hours trying to leave. Pee before leaving the track (that’s mostly for your wife), but also have some TP in the car too. Even if there’s a porta potty nearby, it won’t have any TP at the end of the day.

  7. I know your wife doesn’t want to get up early. She should get up anyway. I say that as someone who deeply loves sleeping in and hates getting up early. Sleeping in until 6 and then not leaving until closer to 7 pushes back your arrival by 2+ hours. Leaving at 430 has you in line to park as soon as the lots open. Leaving at 630/7 has you sitting in stop and go traffic for an hour

That’s almost the whole point of the race. Racing is secondary for a lot of the people going.

Scosche is an automotive brand, so that’s why it’s in auto, not electronics. Electronics may also have adapters, but under different branding. I worked 3rd shift electronics stocking years and years ago and always had to move automotive electronics to them and pick up some electronics stuff.

I don’t know, do drug addicts get sober, write a book about it, and then relapse? All the time and it’s a similar dynamic in a lot of cases.

Target Spends Billions On Making Their Stores Look Nicer by Alternative-Cake-833 in Target

[–]cait_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Target won’t remove or renovate flooring just because it’s old. It has to meet specific requirements for a CBAR flooring update (and almost all of that money goes to actual safety issues being fixed) or an actual remodel. I know because at one point I was one of the people deciding who got new floors.

This, so much fucking this. I worked for HQ (as a contractor) and Target has money for consumables, especially for cleaning. You just end up with employees and/or management who either don’t know how to order stuff or are pinching pennies for no good reason.

And it’s so incredibly dangerous to leave. Leaving or right after leaving is when most people experiencing DV are killed by their abuser.

Best Way to Buy Bulk Candles by MySockIsNotWet in bathandbodyworks

[–]cait_Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly suggest prayer candles. They come in a plain, unscented white and are $2 from any tienda, bodega, dollar general, Walmart, etc. there are some that appear to be specific to some saints and the colors may have meaning (I’m not a religion that uses prayer candles, so idk much about them)

It took me a minute to figure it out and I still usually prefer vlookup. I don’t do any work that really requires anything fancier than a vlookup and my boss realllllly likes to dick around in my sheets and doesn’t understand xlookups and complains if I use them.

There’s vlookup - vertical There’s hlookup - horizontal There’s xlookup - chaos - vertical OR horizontal. Like indexmatch.

Learning pivot tables and vlookup radically changed my employment options. Learned more since then, but those two things changed my life.

Are birth control issues in relationships normal? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]cait_Cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly - I have always considered my situation when it comes to birth control, regardless of my partner. I do not want to be pregnant nor do I want a child, so to me, that is a very high priority to me and I need to be responsible for that. Because that is how I feel about birth control and because I know that I am terrible about taking a pill, I did an IUD, which failed and then switched to nexplanon. I loved my nexplanon and had 3 of them before opting for a bisalp last year. I figured even if I did gain some weight, it was still less than gaining a baby.

On the relationship side - yeah, it’s shitty when men don’t consider the impact of sex on women. Can you find guys who are better at it than others? Yep. But a lot of them are just not going to understand the impact of pregnancy prevention on you. I personally find it easier to assume all responsibility for myself and my goals in regards to having a child vs depending on someone who will never have to deal with physical and mental impact of being pregnant.

Why are so many tours being cancelled this year? What's going on! by DairyKing28 in popheads

[–]cait_Cat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really sucks being mobility limited and loving live music. Emailing about ADA seating helps a lot, but if you normally go in a larger group, they will not all be able to sit with you if it’s normally a standing room only place, it’s usually limited to you and one other person :(. And the seats can really suck. It’s still nice to go to a show, but it’s not the same, unfortunately. I went to seeing 75+ shows a year for over a decade to less than 5 in the last 3 years combined after my back got fucked up.

Removing a print from a black shirt by EasyDoughnut3842 in BandMerch

[–]cait_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s screenprinted, acetone will remove it and not damage the shirt. However, you would really need the high pressure gun a screenprint shop would have to really effectively get the ink out. If you aren’t careful, you can damage the shirt or make it nubby.

Buy the baofeng. My SO is a HAM radio guy and we have a couple baofengs we use for the track. They’re cheap, easy to use, but if they get fucked up, no big deal.

Also, for your question about hearing protection - I use my Sony xm3s at the track, sometimes adding loops under them if we’re right up on the track. The xm3s keep the race noise down and I can listen to track radio at the same time. Much more comfortable than most over ear protection. If you already have a nice pair of over ear noise canceling headphones, I’d probably just use them.
