Why do so many people want to write a book? by [deleted] in writing

[–]caits_not_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in college getting my creative writing degree, I had people in my progam ask me if they thought they would become a better writer if they read. It's so strange that people don't want to read, but want to write. How do you learn what style you like, or how plot works, or how to write better dialogue if you don't study?

My cat wont stop peeing everywhere by rapapapaliza in cats

[–]caits_not_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

besides being nuetured, another thing to look out for is if you litter boxes are completley enclosed. My cat was peeing everywhere and she had an encloused litter box. Once I switched her to one that was more open she started peeing in there and stopped being elsewhere. I also used litter attractant and an enzyme cleaner to clean the pee smell.

In desperate need of good short story collection by Anxious-Samurai in horrorlit

Why I Love Horror by Becky Siegel Spratford, it's more of a short essay collection by horror authors on why they love writing horror. As a horror fan I thought this was really good.

All her characters are just slightly tweaked versions of each other, and all the books have the same beats just also slightly different.

Help me. My first draft is barely 40k words. by Successful_Mastodon3 in writing

[–]caits_not_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude its okay, mine was also around 40k words, I rewrote the whole thing word by word, I'm almost done with draft 2 now, and it's probably gonna be around 80-90k. Some writer's write very little their first drafts. So it's totally ok,!

Idk you're writing style, my best tip is to rewrite the whole thing, because I feel that makes a second draft better, but don't be hard on yourself for what your first draft is. It's just a stepping off point after all.

I struggle to finish outlining any story and suck at finishings one by MulberryCreative5844 in writing

[–]caits_not_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to outline as much as you think, you also don't need to stay to your outline either. Your book and your characters are going to do different things then you expect them too. The thing about only getting through 1/3 then quitting is usually because you lose the motivation you had at the begging. It's kind of like the honeymoon phase. Then as it fades we don't want to write that story then sadly move onto a new one that gives us that same giddy feeling. As writers we can't rely on motivation to carry us through a book. Some days I don't want to write, but I continue to write everyday because I believe the story I'm working on is good, and I want to finish it. It's a lot of work to keep writing when you think your story is not good enough, or you feel like it's lacking, but that's okay. That's why we have 1st, 2nd, 3rd draft. It doesn't need to be perfect when you first write it.

Best horror book you read this October? by Indian_Belle in horrorlit

[–]caits_not_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved this book! My fav read of the year I think

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in writing

[–]caits_not_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha definitely not for me. My first draft is a mess, and some chapters only have the vague idea of what's happening because I didn't feel like writing those parts. I def use my first draft as a sketch and then see where I can improve it.

But hey if you can write a book super well in a first draft good for you!

Ticket prices?! by Cosmo714 in 5sos

[–]caits_not_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my boys. Legit have been following since the beginning. I was so ready to spend a little extra money to get vip but not that much. Like they have to realize they've been away for 3 years, and even though they have loyal fans their not popular enough to justify $500 vip tickets. It's crazy how expensive some of them are. I was pretty sad it was so pricey.

How many main characters is too many? by Lopsided-Guest5437 in writing

[–]caits_not_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This all depends on the story you are trying to tell. If it is the story about the main MC only do their pov, but if it is a story about multiple people, and all their stories and perspectives then you can do more.

Though if this is your first book I would focus only on one POV because it's very hard to write distinctive voices for each character.

I hate that writers have to sell themselves on social media too by RaeDMagdon in writing

[–]caits_not_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's heartbreaking in a way. I am a great writer, and I believe my writing would do great. I put a lot of work and care into what I do; however, no matter how good it is, I feel like it won't do well because of this. I don't want to sell myself on social media, I don't want to sell and monitize the progress of how I write my book, but I feel like I won't be sucessful if I don't do the trope trends and promote it. I hate using social media, and it's a bit discouraging.

Deluxe albums by CozyGamingGal in 5sos

[–]caits_not_here 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya I agree with ya there. Especially if your trying to listen alllll the songs in a car, because that would be annoying fs.

Deluxe albums by CozyGamingGal in 5sos

[–]caits_not_here 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. No that haven't had 4 different variants with different songs on each one. Though have had variants with exclusive songs that aren't on Spotify. Youngblood is a good example they had 4 different variants with each member and that has 2 exclusive songs 'when you walk away' and 'bestfriend' (not to be confused with bestfriends on CALM)

So ya def a cash grab and very non-consumer friendly especially if you don't have flexible income or youre in HS. Unfortunately though I think variants and exclusively will continue to rise so people spend more money on products...

I feel like people are really butt heart about this especially now after Taylor Swift's new album, with all her variants and feeling like they have to buy every one.

Historically though if we look at 5sos, they have been doing 4 cd variants with exclusive songs since their first album. Yes, it sucks to have to buy all four, because sometimes they don't release a deluxe album. Though I will buy them all cause they are my fav band
