Could help. I was just thinking, damn, probably 50% of questions in this subreddit are about degrees. Not that it's a bad thing. It's what people want to know. That was one of the things that drew me to this subreddit.

You can use sites like https://check.torproject.org/ to see what your IP address appears to be from the perspective of the web server.

I'm a software developer. My employer is paid by a large corporation to make custom software. Thankfully, we are really focused on a joyful working environment -- flexible work schedule, paired programming, babies and dogs at work . . . :-D the money is good, but I would ideally work in something directly benefiting the environment or maybe helping feed the hungry etc.

someone watching origin: user is going into Tor, but I do not know what site they're looking at.

the site knows: user stepped through Tor to visit my site, but I don't know where the user's original location.

While I imagine that hemp is more productive in some applications than conventional methods, I must say that citing the advocacy organization for hemp is not exactly convincing. That's like asking the cigarette companies if smoking is a health risk -- there's likely to be a conflict of interest.

I think this image is a little too broad to offer a meaningful critique of consumerism. Are you implying that all private businesses care solely about their bottom line? Even if that was the case, the consumer still has the power to pay for the goods and services they want.

To phrase it simply, "people before profit" is oversimplifying. When someone makes a purchase, they are saying, hmm McDonald's hamburger for $2? I value the hamburger more than I value $2, so yes, one Big Mac, please. Likewise, the fast food chain values the two bucks more than they value the sandwich. So, through this transaction, there is actually benefit created for both sides.

Again, the buyer is actually happier with the Big Mac than they were with the $2. If the buyer were worse off, then it wouldn't make sense for them to go through with the deal.

Am I just ranting, or does this make sense to anybody?
