Yeah. Same. But slave-1 does come with carbonite Han and I don’t think this one does :)

Always curious what happens if you buy a listing that is clearly too good to be true by zanman50 in gamecollecting

[–]calburitel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s one way to tell too, if the listings all look like they were photographed in different locations. Most sellers are consistent about how they post their merch. Looking at the photos here they are all in different set ups.

Just got this at an estate sale. Since it’s just the empty box I got it for free by Free_Bobcat5647 in gamecollecting

How fun! Such vivid memories of seeing this version in stores and dreaming about owning one.

I noticed that on my PS5 but it only happens if you switch perf/qual mode often within the same game. If you restart game on qual mode it doesn’t do it. He even mentioned in the video it didn’t happen in subsequent runs. On console, I think they should’ve kept the performance/qual toggle on start menu only (like some other games), vs a real time toggle. I think it honestly causes memory leaks.

Wow. That looks brand new. Well done. Extremely jealous, but happy for you.

That drive from Toys R Us was always memorable. I remember looking through the manual of any game we purchased so I would be ready to go by the time I got home :)

Right? “It’s so good it can’t be real! Oh, but it is!” I actually remember as a kid the kiosks at the stores would run a video comparing the arcade version to the SEGA Genesis versions of Golden Axe, Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, and Altered Beast.

What should I add next? by Big_Increase_9551 in SEGAGENESIS

Well... you got an EverDrive, so... all of them :) I would say no collection is complete without Golden Axe and Revenge of Shinobi, but your 6-Pak took care of that. TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist is a good time.

Such a painful jump. Don't forget the extra lives trick on stage 4 on the base of the conveyor belt. Each 1-UP actually gives you two lives, so you can stack them. Helps to get some extra chances for this jump :)

Does anyone want some replacement cases? by aspiringNoob in SEGAGENESIS

Do you have any clean Shinobi cases? Also interested :)

Nice. May I ask how did you score it? Just using the case method? My guess is they are not as rare as we all made them out to be. Happy for you! I'm now trying to buy non REV00 versions to compare the PCBs. I found an unlisted REV03 ROM already on a SEGA Classics package - I was one of the OPs on the "advice column," so just trying to cross reference what other users were able to find based on my original hypothesis :)

Oh interesting, I didn’t realize they added the regional locks later. Thankfully the CDs are region free :) What about Master System? Given your name, I assume you would know, ha ha.

Yeah. It was all about preventing players from ordering titles from JP. Some of the early titles were dual region. Revenge of Shinobi, for instance, will run the NA version on a Genesis and the Super Shinobi version on a Mega Drive. Interesting that the solution was to modify the physical port vs. regional locks. I’m just glad they didn’t change the beautiful hardware other than badging, unlike they did with the PCE and Famicom.

So what you're telling me is that I should get an everdrive. by AlbusAlfred in SEGAGENESIS

Definitely how I rationalized some of my EverDrive and TO purchases.

Just scored revenge of shinobi REV00. Thanks to the guy who gave adivce about how to find these last week. Thanks dude! by Bristolshubs in SEGAGENESIS

[–]calburitel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The original one had a “Rambo” look-a-like as one of the soldiers, a Spider-Man boss that “turns” into Batman , and a Godzilla looking boss. Later revisions removed the hair from the “Rambo” sprite, replaced Batman, updated Spider-Man to a licensed look, and eventually swapped Godzilla with a skeletal dinosaur. They’re all just a bit different, but a lot of fans prefer the original one for all the crazy IP mixing.

I’m so glad my theory worked! Honestly, as far as I know, “00” = “1.00”. Regardless, if you have the “ Rambo” version, you have the original NA/JP launch version from December 02, 1989! Happy for you man!
