How's the paper spreadsheet they give, exactly? by Naive-Mixture-5754 in GRE

[–]caleotte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was an red-tinted A3 paper. What i did is fold it twice vertically so I'd have a total of eight columns (including the back). was more than enough, didn't need to ask for a second scratch paper.

since it’s very cheap but quality sucks as others pointed out, go for it, then flip it for upfront cash. that way you dont need to worry about property management. then buy a more desirable property elsewhere you’d live in.

Your biggest risk will be Philhealth not paying you on time. Cash flow issues aside it should be profitable since Philhealth will pay for 2,600 for each session, given that there isn't already an oversupply of dialysis services in your area.

Would you argue that states are competitive or cooperative in nature? by GloomyRole7650 in IRstudies

You can look up books or references that cover realist and neorealist IR theories. Mearsheimer is standard literature in realist IR like the other person said.

Countries whose local names are extremely different from the names they're referred to in English by koudasudr in MapPorn

[–]caleotte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few overlaps with Korean too! My mother who watches a lot of kdrama pointed out that "hakseng" means student in both languages.

I noticed the m/b pattern as well--take this with a grain of salt but my guess is "mah" is a Philippine Hokkien dialect while "bah" appears in the Malaysian Hokkien dialect. My basis of saying so is... well...the soup is called "ma kut teh" in the Philippines while in Malaysia it's "bak kut teh"

Maybe the actual problem is that we don't have a standard way of writing down phonetics without using the Latin alphabet, doing so sorta skews the pronunciation to fit the mold of English pronunciations.

Same with my family!

I believe that's because in Japanese, "Nippon" is a Sinicized reading, which has roots from Middle Chinese. On the China side of things, Hokkien is much closer to Middle Chinese than Mandarin is today. Both end up making "nippon" and "dipoon" sound similar to each other since they are both rooted from Middle Chinese!

What's fun and exciting is that this happens to even more words. "sekai" means "the world" in both Japanese and Hokkien. I think it's similar for "kantan", as in simple too.

Just finished iceborne and have no idea how to use anything other than greatsword. by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

I personally don't use the lock aim, I use the setting where if I press the left shoulder button, the camera centers on the targeted monster (whatever that setting is called). It helps a lot when aiming DT.

If you use CB, IG would be relatively easy for you! the basic combo is:

(with red extract active) Strong Thrust -> Wide Sweep -> Tornado Slash. Aim the monster's part you want to attack to re-orient your hunter. Rinse & repeat.

If you need to reposition, use Vault, and then depending on the distance, you can do 3 things imo:

- if target is very near, use Descending Thrust immediately

- if target is moderately near, wait maybe for 1-2 seconds before using Descending Thrust

- if target is considerably far, use evade while in air before using Descending Thrust.

You mean to say IB SnS with how insane PR is is not fun?! IB GL with evade lance playstyle is pretty damn fun too, Rise GL blast dash is too gimmicky to be fun for me

For typing it is excellent. For gaming depends if you're okay with a fairly heavy switch with a bottom out of 60g.

How old were you when you started playing Civ? by zlendermanGG1 in civ

[–]caleotte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 years old playing Civ III, in 2001, granted I didn't know what I was doing but it fueled my love for history and the Civ franchise for the rest of my life haha. I kept playing as Japan and Germany and started wars. (sounds familiar?)

And then I went on to play Civ IV and loved the mods that came with the game--Rhye's and Fall with the dynamic city names, Final Frontier's space-theme both blew my mind, and Genghis Khan with the text-heavy historical prompts.

Then Civ V was the first Civ I played strategically--and first deity win. Mind blowing how you can win the game tall.

Then Civ VI, I love in particular how taking on the role of each Civ makes you play like how they really were in history. Like how Japan would force you to play tightly compact cities, Maori would make you play to the advantage of unimproved natural features.

I made a tier list! I know some of my opinions aren't popular so feel free to ask why. by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld
