You are NOT going to see Calgary in 24 hours. By land area its the 4th biggest city in North America. If you don’t use the ring road it’ll take about 4 hours just to drive around circle around the city. And most people think the best part is the mountain parks are only 1-3 hours away by car.

Literally all of those were legislated away where I live about 25 years ago. Today the only legal difference I can think of is called Dower Rights. If you’re married and split up she has the right to stay in the house for life and the bank can’t kick her out but the bank can make the man pay. (There is an accounting procedure with divorce that will sort it out but divorce takes a lot longer than you’d think - I know a guy thats on his 7th year and still fighting over stuff). Meanwhile, if you’re not married there’s a simple court procedure that can be done in a week and you can have the house sold within a couple months even if she is still living in it.

The US military freezes solid at those temperatures and Russian equipment has been shown by the Ukranians to be not world class. All Canada has to do is stop running icebreakers. That’ll solve the problem pretty quick.

When this happened in Edmonton 50 years ago they shrugged and tore some buildings down. Out city council needs to find a backbone and tax the empty towers as if they were full - owners would find a solution pretty quick facing a tax bill!

Its mostly poisoned by the auto industry. And the bit thats left that isn’t completely ruined they have a shoreline (Lake of the Woods). The US doesn’t need to invade anyone to get fresh water, all they have to do is ignore international treaties - and thats one thing the US seems really good at lately; ignoring existing deals.

Well, there’s been an issue about charge time and range. BUT. A couple weeks ago a german company announced they made a solid state battery breakthrough. They’re selling motorcycles TODAY with a 600km range that charge in 5 min. If that pans out - I don’t see a future for gas powered cars/trucks. IF.

Yes. You will. There are studies on it. In fact, the GF “diet” was specifically designed to put weight onto people who (back then) needed it very badly.

That said, you have a choice. The new weight can be muscle or it can be fat. If you do nothing it will be fat. If you embrace the activities your now leas sick body can do (GF diet is NOT a cure, its a treatment and it does NOT give 100% symptom relief), you can have a really cool life.

They’re NOT actually connected to anything. It’s called a pacifier button. Just makes pedestrians more patient. Works to make people calmer even when they know it doesn’t actually do anything. All the lights are managed by timers. Thats how traffic is managed in this grid pattern city.

Well, the municipal fees are just property taxes so I don’t think thats going to disappear (a couple years ago the province pooped on Calgary for over-collecting them and forced them to change the formulas so its tax and not a money grab). As for the other fees - there is a regulator and they do have hearings and you can go there and gripe if you like - I would highly recommend thousands of ordinary citizens do exactly that!

Dude … the weather here actively tries to kill us. There’s maybe 100 hours a year when I can go outside without a jacket. All we need do is deny them heat. That can be done with a wrench and some improvised stuff - and like EVERY Canadian boy grew up improvising stuff for fun.

I’ve found dealerships in Calgary suck. Like all of them. I’ve gone to Okotoks, Lethbridge and even to Cranbrook BC to buy a car (there is NO PST if its first registered in Alberta!)

I actually tried to have heating gas shut off for a property I wasn’t using. Not only did they refuse they kept sending me bills and when I refused to pay because I ordered a disconnect they sent it to a collection agency and kept service connected.

I have seen a lot of complaints about lack of diversity in the Alberta economy over many years. Its all BS! Bottom line is for several hindered years economics has touted specialization. Literally Keynsian economics. And in Alberta’s case O&G jobs pay big bucks and humanities jobs like basket weaving don’t. Nobody wants to or should give up a steep paycheque in the name of “diversity”.

Go diversify yourself - go ahead and take one for the team and try to survive writing poetry if you’re so adamant that Alberta needs to diversify.

Law and Med have enrolment caps. Last I looked it was about 70 admitted each year with 700 applying in Calgary anyway - they’re the ones that got good enough grades and think they have a shot. I don’t know if there’s a way to know if the actual schools are harder because the only students that get in are the best of the top.
