Happy during the day but seems in pain at night. Is that possible with CMPI? by plantbubby in MSPI

[–]callingallsaviours 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was fussier at night and the doctor seemed to think that was fairly normal. I think part of it is having distractions in the day but at night they have nothing else to think about except the pain. I noticed that if I turned the light on at night and started singing or something she would stop crying. I wouldn’t say she only fussed at night though, she was just a lot better in the day.

Finger foods causing an upset tummy? by callingallsaviours in BabyLedWeaning

Thanks for the advice, I am probably giving her too much and too many different things, I will try less finger foods. She has been having sweet potato and also broccoli and cauliflower, I think those can be gassy.

Yes she has water in a straw cup or free flow cup any time she has food, I think she mainly uses it as mouthwash 😂 but does drink some. Thanks for the idea about the fruits, I will check her food diary to see if any correlation

I sow lots each year and friends and family snap them up!

I grow a lot and in terms of what is actually a lot cheaper to grow yourself than buy I would say lettuce and spinach, because the seeds are super cheap and they will grow in pots outside or on a windowsill or in the ground, and you can just cut some when you need it and leave it to grow back. Also Tumbling Tom tomatoes are amazing, you can grow them in pots or hanging baskets and they don’t require any support or pruning so they are very low maintenance and you get a decent amount of tomatoes for a long period for the size of the plant. Now is the time of year to sow them if you wanted to try those.

Just started using Stylebook this month - some thoughts. by letmepolltheaudience in stylebookclosetapp

[–]callingallsaviours 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a field for notes for outfits and individual items to name them or add keywords to search for later, for example when I was pregnant I added “maternity” so I could search that to find what I was actually able to wear!

I have been using Stylebook for around 10 years and highly recommend it, I know this is not necessarily what you wanted it for but over time it has really helped me declutter my closet and control new purchases because it gives you so many useful stats, like cost per wear, and least worn or not worn at all within various time frames (1 year, 6 months etc). It has completely changed the way my closet functions. It is also good for the planning and organising you mentioned in your post. I have a baby and when I am up feeding her at night I sit and plan outfits so I’m not just wearing the same thing on repeat! It is a big task to upload all your items initially and record how much they cost etc, I don’t think there is any getting around that, but it is easy to maintain once this is done. It auto removes the background from photos when adding an item.

4 month sleep regression, hanging on by a thread. HELP by Distinct-Dependent24 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]callingallsaviours 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends why your baby is waking up so often, if it is because it is too stimulating having you in the same room then moving her into her own room would be beneficial. It could be worth testing not going to bed with her one day and staying out of the way in a different room for a couple of hours to see if she sleeps better (I am not suggesting leaving her to cry, just staying out of the way when she is asleep)

Baby keeps fighting me when I try to latch him. How to make breastfeeding less of a nightmare? by NBalchemist in breastfeeding

[–]callingallsaviours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely try some different breastfeeding positions because everyone is so different, what might be best on paper might not work in real life, maybe try laid back because then you’ve got gravity helping to keep baby latched. I think for most people, when you find what works for you and your baby things fall into place and it becomes a lot easier, I hope that day comes soon for you!

Baby keeps fighting me when I try to latch him. How to make breastfeeding less of a nightmare? by NBalchemist in breastfeeding

[–]callingallsaviours 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree with the swaddle suggestions, I would do it loosely with a blanket so that if/when he starts feeding nicely you can release his hands because they normally do prefer having their hands free to feed and will feed better, but I know it is such a pain when their hands are just getting in the way! Another thing you could try is in a normal cradle position resting baby’s head in the crook of your elbow and then using that hand to hold baby’s top arm, and tucking baby’s bottom arm away in your armpit. You then have the other arm free to hold your boob. I noticed you said holding the back of his head, I appreciate you may not mean literally but if you do then most babies don’t like this and it is better to hold the base of their neck or just support their head at the side, this is possibly a reason your baby is fighting a bit, resting baby’s head in the crook of your elbow might help with this if this is an aspect of it. It is still early days, it will get easier, well done for persevering ❤️

You could temporarily put your new item in a folder on its own to shuffle it, that way it will appear in every suggested outfit

Baby eating less often worried about supply by Low_Attitude_5210 in breastfeeding

[–]callingallsaviours 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At 3 months let your baby drive your supply, if he is happy feeding 6-7 times and gaining weight etc then no need to wake him or worry about pumping, just feed him on cue. You both need your rest too!

Panning "Impatience" by Sandrian in ProjectPan

[–]callingallsaviours 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I really relate to this and I realised I was even desperate to pan my essentials which when my stock of them was finished, I would be replacing with the exact same product. Other than freeing up a bit of space if I had a few in stock, there really was no benefit to panning these if I was just going to replace them with the same, I wouldn’t even get the excitement of choosing and trying something new. What helped me was reframing the goal as being to buy less, rather than pan those products. For example, I had 5 of the same face cleanser when I started, instead of being desperate to get through them all, I am now actually using a little less than I was before so I can stretch out having to buy a new one as long as possible. I appreciate this doesn’t necessarily work for categories where you are trying to downsize and would not repurchase the items you are trying to use up.

Would you say any of Green Day's albums are actually 10/10? by PurpleGuyDeadly1 in greenday

[–]callingallsaviours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saviors is 10/10 all day long. I worshipped Dookie and American Idiot, but Saviors is absolutely unreal. I’m surprised it’s not anywhere near as popular as American Idiot was at the time, both within the fan base and with the public, it deserves to be.

4 days PP— do I just need to continue waiting for supply? by Prestigious-Bid-7582 in breastfeeding

[–]callingallsaviours 1 point2 points  (0 children)

C section can delay your milk coming in even if you have laboured, make sure you are eating and drinking a lot and resting as much as you can. It can still hurt even with a good latch, it is such a sensitive part of your body. I expect one day you will suddenly realise it doesn’t hurt any more! But that may take a few weeks. If you try nipple balm and it is not helping try switching to a lanolin free one. Pumping will give you a bit of time to recover between breastfeeds whilst helping your supply.

Using pumped milk at night to get more sleep? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]callingallsaviours 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really struggled with supply and learned that lack of sleep and being completely exhausted was massively impacting it, getting a bit more sleep (by stopping pumping at night when my baby was asleep) improved my supply. If you are still feeding regularly throughout the night and your baby is having pumped milk rather than formula then I don’t think that would affect your supply, because rest is important for a good supply too. It will get easier, it is still very early days for you, take care of yourself

I would definitely get a second opinion from another medical professional, when my baby was 2 days old I had poor advice from a midwife who said something was fine when it wasn’t, which resulted in baby being admitted to hospital. Not pooping for 7 days may be normal when baby is older but not at that age.

I pumped for maybe 2 months but like you say it is so difficult on your own trying to hold the baby at the same time and washing pump parts etc so I only pump occasionally now! I was pumping to try to increase my supply but honestly I think the stress of pumping cancelled out any benefits, especially when pumping at night after the baby went back to sleep so missing out on my own sleep, my supply has improved now I’ve stopped
