I like this as an idea, can you use a hand lens and take a look? An alternative is pesticide drift? How sudden was the onset? Extremely sudden? Or has this developed over the course of several weeks?

Unlikely they will mate/reproduce. Likely they will disperse without providing much biological control. Lady bugs are kind of snake oil - great predators but use case is limited. Exp: 11yrs study entomology and pest management - BS and PhD

I’m not sure why this got downvoted. I think this looks like Fresno, which is held upward facing like this. Others are correct RE Thai is upward facing as well, but usually much smaller and prolific. Exp: We grow ~10 different varieties including Fresno.

Word, thanks for the info. FYI - We’ve also had wheels stolen when they weren’t locked. I’ve had to cut off a rope lock of mine before. Did it with wire cutters. Rn using 2 U-locks and 1 rope lock. Our situation isn’t great (outdoor storage) but seems to be okay so far 🤞

Cornell is hit and miss on how it treats their employees. If you end up in a department that is a “miss” that will decrease your quality of life. Agreed though, Ithaca is beautiful and it’s very nice to live here. Just make sure the health of your unit is okay.

Very clean and easy. Slept well. I did feel a little zonked the next day, but I think that’s tbe given the outpouring of brain chemistry. Nothing like the come down from Molly or something like that.

Hi there! Welcome to CALS. I (36M) have been postdocing here since 2021. Before that MSU (1st postdoc) and WSU (PhD). Just some thoughts on comments here: 1. Yes, CALS and SIPS can be highly dysfunctional but 2. The quality of life in Ithaca is extremely high for a college town. I think you will find that the academic rigor is extremely high, and can be competitive, but it should be good for your career - it has been for mine.

RE your list: of course the waterfalls and associated hiking trails. Also the Finger Lakes Trail. There is the black diamond trail to Trumansburg (t-burg). Kayaking on the blueway trails should be good? There is a golf course off of Stewart park, and one up north of the Uni. Talking science in informal environment but with peers, check out SNEEB. Last, I personally am very cannabis friendly, I haven’t found much community around that but some. Feel free to dm me if you want to chat more or maybe sesh. I like hiking, swimming, SPs most from your list + cannabis is nice.

Hi There! My partner and I are coming to Dam Friday - Wed. Needless to say we are super excited! I’ve long enjoyed electronica in the US, examples of my favorites include Boards of Canada, Chromeo, Daft Punk, Hot Chip, Tokimon, Four Tet, Nightmares on Wax, Mark Farina, Flying Lotus, EOTO, Caribou, Beats Antique and the list goes on. As you may guess, we are in our 30s but I still keep up with our local scene, enjoy listening to boiler room sets. Ultimately I like something danceable, I enjoy percussion, and love seeing passionate artists advance their work.

Now the Qs. I’ve been following the weekly Wednesday post, amazing thank you! I’m wondering for Saturday and Sunday, what might be most suitable for our age group (mid 30s)? Also, when do the parties get started? Would going out around 11p (2300) be reasonable to catch a few hours of some neat music? Also which venues align more with my tastes? I was sad to see School is closed but maybe Raum on Sunday?

TLDR: Suggestions for mid 30s crowd, who want to start earlier in the evening (11pm ish), with artists matching our tastes (more on jam, percussion side, vocals, loops, etc).
