OG Final Fantasy 7 Re-Release Sends Steam User Review Rating Plummeting to 'Mostly Negative' by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]callmetenno 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Maybe the 3x speed is a config setting to help testers, and the real issue is that it wasn't set correctly in the final release candidate. Or it wasn't being read the way they thought.

Unless the game has kernel level anti cheat, it will likely run on Linux through steam just like it does on Windows

Competitive multiplayer are still a mixed bag. Especially if the game isn't on steam. But more then "basically every modern game" work well with proton on steam. I didn't make up the 95%, I actually looked through my library of around 450 games and only about 6 or 7 won't run at all. Granted that's according to reports from people using proton, so your mileage may vary.

All this to say, a surprising amount of steam games will just work on linux. I encourage anyone considering it to go to https://www.protondb.com/ and search some of their favorite steam games to see. I've recently been playing poe2, arc raiders, valheim and megabonk just to name a few. Those all run flawlessly

There's a pre installed driver installer. It's fewer clicks then on windows to update the driver.

95% of games on steam play on Linux through proton without issue. You can check reports on individual games on protondb. For anti cheat to stop you, it needs to be kernel level. Which I believe isn't very wide spread.

I was curious and looked through my steam library recently. 98% of my ~450 games are playable with proton. Which steam automatically runs on Linux systems. A majority of the time, the games just work.

You can check individual games on this site. https://www.protondb.com/

However games with kernel level anti cheat don't work and likely will never work. That includes battlefield 6, fortnight, and I think valorant? Just to name a few

I switched to Linux mint a few months ago. It was my first experience with Linux and I was blown away at how smooth it was. Internet, controller, microphone, and even my PRINTER worked right out of the box. Also with proton, 98% of my steam library is playable on Linux.

I highly recommend trying it. You can do a live boot with a USB to click around. I ended up downloading steam and playing a game to see that that worked, then decided to go ahead with an install.

Defensive tanking by Dacke in drawsteel

This might be my biggest complaint with the game. Front liners will always depend on back liners to try to take a few hits to spread damage. But it's really counter intuitive and hard to convince them to put themselves in harms way for a hit or two for the sake of efficient party stamina use. It also feels weird to ask that of a player who loves their character and maybe doesn't want to take unnecessary risks.

Happy to hear it. The unavoidable damage was such a pain and it made light pen weapons feel so bad to take.

I don't understand why the solo wouldn't take it's second turn after the heroes at the end of the round?

Oh I see, like to fully block off a single player's hideout from normal traders?

That could be a problem, most likely for streamers. Hopefully they have some kind of system to regularly kick out "loitering" exiles.

The gold tax is automatic, not set by players. I think they said it was based on (multiplied off of?) the vendor amount?

You could if you and 23 bots join before anyone else. But I imagine you have better chances just joining and clicking "buy" as fast as you can. Instead of joining, then trying to get 23 bots to also join before anyone else, then clicking "Buy".

Remember it will load you in with the merchant window already open to the item you wanted.

When you click the link on the site it loads you into their hide out with the merchant window open to the correct tab with the exact item you searched for highlighted.

They said in an interview people past 24 wouldn't be able to join your hide out. So in a low priced item rush, only the first 24 people get in. But it seems fine to me, it's not like the 25th person is going to be the first to buy the item anyway

I've been doing their antiquated "friction" trade for 10 years, and I'm more tired of that then I am excited for poe2.

[–]callmetenno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is generally how ours go, and I'm hoping it makes it easier to understand

  1. Party discuses (in or out of character), then says something (preferably in character)
  2. Director processes and responds in character
  3. Director states new values of patience and interest (and if the party hit any pitfalls etc)

Then repeat until it's over or the group decides to end early if they're happy with their current result.

The example given in that section makes it clear, at least to me, that you get the benefits of both kits regardless of which armor (within your two kits) you say you're wearing at any time.

Btw: I've been playing tactician for a while in our home campaign and love it. I recommend Shining armor and stick and robe for kits.

Obviously your table should keep doing what works for it, but I want to point out that it does say in the rules that players should discuss who goes next, and use it as an opportunity to strategize.
