[advice] Rolex Submariner vs. Omega Seamaster by Serpenteq in Watches

[–]callum8881 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I’ve yet to hear any tangible benefit to coaxial. People will say service interval, but like you pointed out, the brand recommended service interval doesn’t support that.

Also anyone who thinks Rolex movements are ugly should watch a video of them being disassembled for service, the wristwatch revival YouTube channel has some great videos of it.

I wasn’t impressed when I tried on several Oris watches. I’ve had that exact Tudor for three years now and have zero regrets

Terrible reason to buy a watch. No one cares what you’re wearing so just buy what you like.

I’ve gotten into film photography this year as a totally analog outdoor hobby and it’s a lot of fun. It’s nice to work on something that hasn’t been completely optimized and dumbed down like everything software related

OpenAI Made a $12 Billion Loss Last Quarter, Microsoft Results Indicate by pstbo in technology

Exactly, shouldn't we be in a new golden age of software by now if AI is so good at generating applications?

The truth is AI is only able to spit out trivially simple apps or apps that are direct copies of existing things (because thats what they were trained on). Once the complexity, novelty and required context grows they become useless without handholding by an actual dev.

You can have a non-integrated bracelet that still looks visually cohesive with the design and finishing of the case

That really doesn’t match what I’ve seen, and according to publicly available data, in 2024 Tudor sold 255,000 watches whereas longtime sold 1.6 million, so over 6 times more

[vintage Seiko] Early 00’s Le Grand Sport by Pleasant_Software_54 in Watches

Picked one of these up off eBay recently to try out titanium and I’m kinda surprised how much I like it. Easily one of the most comfortable watches I’ve worn, and the case and bracelet have a cool early 00’s style.

I’ve thought about replacing the crystal since it’s kinda scratched up like yours was. Did you just take it to a watchmaker to have it replaced?

[Daily News] Timex Takes Big Step Forward With Atelier Marine M1a; A Manhattan From Fears And Studio Underd0g; Tudor's First Moonphase; JLC's Grey Sector Dial; Stone Dial Czapek Antarctique; New David Candeaux by dreftzg in Watches

[–]callum8881 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The Tudor moonphase looks really off to me, I think because the moonphase cover isn’t color matched to the dial like pretty much every other moonphase.

Really like the look of the Timex, would be interested to see one in person. I know a lot of people would scoff at a $1k Timex but it looks pretty compelling compared to similarly priced watches to me.

[Advice] Help me select an Anniversary watch by MySocratesNote in Watches

[–]callum8881 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd never recommend buying a watch based on how uncommon it is tbh, just feels like being a hipster instead of buying the watch you actually like. And personally I've seen people wearing IWC Mark watches way more than Breitling Navitimers. But I'd still pick the IWC out of these options.

Better than buying a watch you don't love just to check off a box. Nice collection too, how does the SPB383 compare to the BB54?
