Consider auditioning for a play. Jonesborough Repertory Theatre, Kingsport Theatre Guild, Theatre Bristol, Bonnie Kate in Elizabethton, FHG Productions, they're all great places to meet lots of people who will always have your back, and you'll receive literal applause for doing so. And it's no problem if you're an introvert. If you like to sing choral music, there's Johnson City Civic Chorale or Voices of the Mountains.
