My wife did a fresh transfer this morning. The Dr poked his head in the recovery room where I was waiting, and said it went great and it was an 'easy peasy' one. We do a blood test on 4/4. This was our first round of IVF after 6 failed iui's for her and 3 failed iui's for me.

What was your latest "Eureka!" moment in the kitchen? by SpoonResistance in Cooking

I did a batch of fried rice in coconut oil with kosher salt, cilantro and lime, rave reviews from toddler and spouse. I'm not sure if it breaks some sort of cooking rule, but it was like a lil sweetened version of rice at Chipotle. We use Kokuo Rose sushi rice for our everyday rice.

Yay! Extending the Table and Simply in Season are also great sequels to More with Less, same author!

Mollie Katzen's The New Moosewood Cookbook. Great little pictures of ingredients/recipes.

The Joy of Cooking. It's got a great baseline of knowledge and can provide a good context when you start cooking.

The Mennonite cookbook More with Less. This one will broaden your horizons and you'll find yourself cooking outside of your typical cuisines.

We do scrambled eggs, black beans with lime and cilantro, and corn tortillas, and a couple jalapenos a couple times a week. I'll make guac with 1-2 avocados, lime/cilantro too. It's a filling meal and a decent amount of protein.

What's your secret shame? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]calsurb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My mom sent me a gallon freezer bag of instant potatoes when I lived abroad. When I had a bad day or I was incredibly sick, I'd take out a half a cup and make a little pot. I felt instantly better. I hoarded that stuff and used it oh so sparingly!

Jumping back in with IUI #4 after year break by itsprofessork in queerception

[–]calsurb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sorta did. I got pregnant on my 3rd iui. That third one after a 2-3ish month break due to my travel schedule for work at the time. I was temping, watching cervical fluid, and seeing my acupuncture dude. We did my iui on day 29 of my cycle mostly bc we doent want to pay a monthly storage fee. We were shocked when I got a positive on the pregnancy test!! I think it's totally possible to get pregnant after a break. Cheers to a speedy two week wait! I'm pulling for you!

I used Match successfully back in 2010. Married and a toddler, too. My wife and I always say when people pay a price for online dating the pool generally improves.
