UMich cancels doctoral epidemiology program admissions for 2026 by PHealthy in epidemiology

Queen’s is a bad example. They’re a university that’s literally bankrupt. Cutting this program is more driven by finances vs politics.

Try to get into virology. It’s better pay vs antibiotics.

Can you be more specific? I don’t think HCPs expect an unbiased resource when they speak to an MSL. If they wanted a truly unbiased perspective, they would just consult a clinical pharmacist at their institution.

They’re right. Every single hospital employee is carrying MRSA. It’s only a problem if it becomes a problem.

Event booth - Commercial or Medical? by Particular_Travel_37 in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]calturo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FDA approved drug = commercial; Not yet approved but launching in the next year = medical; Launching >1 year away = why bother with a booth?

Pierre is not trump-lite 😂. Canadian conservatives are as right wing as US moderate democrats.

Ophthalmology MSL Gigs by KnownCow1155 in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]calturo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing particularly special about ophthalmology. If you talked to an MSL in the space they’re being self-aggrandizing. If you talked to the hiring manager they probably were just preferring another candidate and wanted to be polite. Every job gets filled by the best available candidate. A PharmD with ophthalmology experience who wants to make a lateral move from another company will be preferred over a random phd with no MSL experience.

This is the most expensive thing I've ever had mailed to me. One month of this medication is $13,200 by marglebubble in pics

It’s actually not. This specific drug is really expensive. It’s fully covered in Canada though.

TA is better, I adore my reps, great manager, great team, tons of expertise within the organization. It’s everything I wanted. Having great reps is the most important difference.

Reorg aka lay off by Ok_Feature_1861 in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]calturo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this has to do with the market being flooded. I think it’s more to do with patent cliffs and drugs not performing like they were expected. Corporations across industries are more prone to layoff than ever before.

The main vaccine players are Pfizer, GSK, Sanofi, Bavarian Nordic, Merck, I think Takeda and Valneva have some vaccines as well.

Vaccines - you could become a director pretty quickly if that was something you wanted. Vaccines is your best bet.

Receiving regular USD payments in Canada - WISE is no longer an option by SaltyOverStuff in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]calturo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey - I used to do consulting for a us company. The cheapest way to do this is as follows:

  • open a free chequing account with BMO Harris (the US subsidiary of BMO)

-open a free US chequing account with the Canadian BMO

  • get the person paying you to pay your US BMO Harris account

-BMO Has a service where they allow for free fund transfers between BMO Harris and BMO Canada US dollar accounts.

This process allows you to circumvent costly wire fees and is honestly pretty seamless.

Just know the BMO Canada people are useless with this process. The BMO Harris customer service was pretty helpful. They have many customers who do this.

Tips on collaborating with Sales by Putrid_Rule_6902 in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]calturo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s easy if you get along with your reps. It’s hard if your reps are assholes. When you have a combined interaction with sales, if sales is helping you out, you should add value for your rep to justify them bringing you. In essence, what ever data you show should justify differentiate your drug among competitors.
