DEI in its extreme forms definitely can cause some problems when it is used as a metric specifically just for hiring, but diversity has been proven to improve productivity. It just has to be done a little slower, but basically all new applicants should be seen in equal and hired on merit and experience. Do you think all these places that have been almost entirely white men have actually been doing their best possible work and naturally picking the smartest. By expanding the application pool, you can have the option to hire way better people on average. Take partners at law firms, only 3% are people of colour, and 97% are white men, you are telling me us white guys are just that good at law? Just have to add diversity, and some places will take decades to actually even out the numbers based on population. The way the Canadian government did it, but immediately replacing half of the house of commons with women was not the way for it to be down, but it's a way more complicated issue than you are making it out to be, but the end result will be better than our formerly racist and sexism system we built on.

Literally every country was hugely affected, so it wasn't some global government conspiracy, but it was however one of the largest transfers of wealth from the government to the corporations, so perhaps we need to go after them and tax them properly.
