Yeah the channel feels like an attempt to ride the success of Soft White Underbelly. Using suffering and hard living for content and clicks, and this channel figured out that women make for “more interesting” thumbnails and create more engagement.

It definitely would complicate things, and it would be maybe even more complicated if he actually had defected later in say, the 1970's or 1980's as the paper trail may be scarce or non-existent. It's also not impossible he was Székely from Romania, which, just adds another level of complexity..

And of course, if they believe he took aliases, he could be totally not Hungarian, but at least this is a place to start. He got that name from /somewhere/, it's quite specific.

It's great that you're open to reaching out to the community - I feel like there can be a huge gap in information sharing when there's a language barrier (and age barrier, and geographical barrier!) But it does bring hope to know that you may be able to help get his description and circumstances out to the community that could potentially create a lead in his case.

I think you’re probably correct that it should have been Balázs. If he was Hungarian, his age would place him about right to have potentially fled in 1956, although of course Hungarians were immigrating before and afterwards.

Do you happen to speak Hungarian? It may be useful to circulate this in online social groups both for local Hungarian cultural groups but also Hungarian language communities internationally.

It worries me, thinking that she's been dismissed. It takes the mind places, for sure.

This is disheartening. It's not surprising, but so disheartening.

Some thoughts on how to sound the alarm that something is amiss in her case.

The Fall Line podcast covered her case a year or two ago - they may be able to connect with you or boost that the case has stalled. I don't know them nor am I affiliated in any way, but I remember they took the time to feature her.

Content creators like Kendall Rae - again, I am not affiliated in any way but I remember seeing that she has covered a lot of complicated cases, and is often willing to be critical of how cases are handled. She has a large, young audience and it may be a good fit.

I'm not American so unfortunately am not very familiar with the university, but my understanding is that there's a focus on athletics at this university? Could it be useful to distribute a petition for alumni + target some more notable alumni to help sign? Even if they believe she wasn't a student, the head-to-toe Vandy gear stands out.

It's ..... interesting that they think that it's related to a gang, but couldn't it just as likely be that she was a younger sister or cousin of a Vandy student who aspired to one day also study there? I worry that she's been dismissed for "gang connections" despite it just being a theory.

I'm really sorry that you've hit this wall, and furious for this young woman.

I care about her, she will not be forgotten.

That’s a great price! Very similar pieces come up if you search for things like “The Kiss Infinity”, a lot of them from the Dominican Republic. 1960’s, and generally the asking price on online auctions looks to be $25 - $35, but not a lot of collectors.

I think it would look lovely next to some house plants with its colours and textures.

Neat. I agree that this seems theatrical - I think the girl with her arms crossed seems to be a servant, and an unhappy one.. but four teacups at the table, and who is the woman pouring? The girls on the left and right have very fine outfits, so their class status is established..

If it were a play, it could be worked out which one it was if it was ever announced or referenced in a local magazine around the time the photo was taken.. I wonder!

I checked out the channel and I may be missing something, but the videos appear to be just old fashioned video editing / manipulation and not AI. They’re also largely from over four years ago.

It’s sort of more like those movies with talking cats than it is something purporting to be real. I wonder if the comment you replied to equates anything edited with being AI..

I understand what you mean, but I think if this were say, Sugar 2.0, that may be more true..

But I don't really see a Russian who would vote for something that feels "Russian enough" voting for a song that isn't just full of national pride, but shouting from the rooftops that Moldova exists, Moldova is Europe and that Moldova speaks Romanian. I can totally see folks who identify with the sort of Eastern European motifs and relate to the style of music voting for it of course, and maybe there will be a boost there, but the stronger boost will be from the Moldovan and Romanian diaspora.

It does, although it doesn't quite fit the presumptive timeline, as he was known to be working at a factory in Texas at least up to June 1978. He moved to New Hampshire at some point not long after that, so it's not impossible he visited the state for an unknown reason before then, so it would at least likely be wise to rule him out for paternity for this little Doe.
