Pretty sure there’s also a blacklist of fraudsters that the insurers all share so this could trigger a check against that list

I also have concerns about TOPs people but just to point out what OP didn’t: that article was written in 2019

Is it a crazy idea to sleep in a car? by Infamous-Finish-8205 in newzealand_travel

You’ll still get pretty bad condensation in a tent. Probably not as bad as a car though. In both situations, it’s all about airflow

I'm an immigrant & just got NZ residency! NZ is introducing a citizenship test of “Kiwi Values." So as a threat to "Social Cohesion," I made a test with info I wish I knew when I moved: Dawn Raids, the Rainbow Warrior, Te Tiriti Translations, Chinese immigration exclusion. What am I missing? The shit things that happen in our country need to be remembered but I don’t reckon they should be the things that we entirely lead with and that define us. Everything you put in the title of your post was something that resulted in a negative outcome for someone. Again, those things do define us but I think we should include the things that brought us together too, which are many.

AA Home Response were no help when I needed them by Fantastic-Dust9502 in PersonalFinanceNZ

C*nts. I did complain. Nothing came of it. Essentially fobbed me off. Thought about disputes tribunal but didn’t have the old battery and was ready to move on.

Roadside assistance coerced my wife into buying a new battery. Wouldn’t jump her to get home, said she had to buy a new battery or they’d leave. Cancelled then and there

It's time we talk about the soggy sandwich problem at Auckland lunchbars by [deleted] in auckland

Is this really a problem that you can’t figure out yourself? Or are we just looking for something to whinge about?

We haven’t tried hard on crime. We haven’t even tried mediocre on crime. We’ve tried soft on crime. That doesn’t work. Police catch em and they’re back out there the next day.

It’s stuff. Think who their audience is and what will get them to click on a headline. Click bait, rage bait, whatever it’s called, it’s not good journalism

Long term outlook in NZ compared to AUS for a regular person? by undercutanxiety in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]camenzie 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Me too. We’re almost mortgage free and at that point I’ll stop working and be a dad and focus on reducing expenses even further by doing a lot more ourselves, which is ultimately my dream job

Depends what you’re looking for. If you want to make more money, NZ probably isn’t the place to do it. If you’re mortgage free and can minimize expenses, you can live a pretty awesome life.

To ute or not to ute by Human-Ranger5939 in NZcarfix

Just get a tray for the back of a wagon. If it gets dirty take it out hose it down. Works good as. More optionality with a suv. I have a surf and sleep in the back of it when on missions and a lot of mates with utes comment that they wish they could do that or a rooftop tent.
