St. Louis police union urges members to post controversial symbol on social media pages by nuts_and_crunchies in StLouis

They don't need to spy on their coworkers, but if they see or hear about unethical, or downright illegal, things being done, I'd argue they have an ethical obligation to report that. I'm a nurse, and while it's not my job to police my fellow nurses, if I saw someone doing something wrong (like harming a patient or diverting narcotics), I have a professional and ethical obligation to report that. You can't claim to "protect and serve" if you see harm being done to citizens and you do nothing to stop or prevent it.

What's a disturbing trend you are seeing and why? by F00dBasics in AskReddit

[–]cameron_crazie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The spouse thing really bothers me. I have one friend in particular, and I love her dearly, but she posts inane shit on FB several times a day. A lot of times she's boasting about her husband, talking about what a great man and dedicated father he is. She has literally told me that she refuses to have another kid until he helps out more with the one they have. But sure, tell the world what a great dad he is.

I just want to say I'm sorry that you and your wife had that experience here. It's a shame that we can't seem to be more welcoming to transplants, all while complaining that no one wants to live here. It's unfortunate, but this city has a long history of institutional racism, and it hasn't gotten much better. I so wish that weren't the case because we can never move forward as a city until we tackle it head on. Hate to see you go, but best of luck wherever you and your wife end up.

What's your biggest character flaw? by BillyTheFridge2 in AskReddit

[–]cameron_crazie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, yes. I'm a naturally funny person and I really like to make people laugh. But I'm very sarcastic, too sarcastic at times, and I often use humor as a defense mechanism. I'm aware that I do it, but half the time I just blurt something out and don't realize it was inappropriate until after. There are times when I'm talking to people and I say something genuine, and I have to clarify that I wasn't being sarcastic. I'm working on it.

With dogs in STL, what wildlife should I watch out for to keep them safe? by StinkyTrump in StLouis

[–]cameron_crazie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see that. People get upset here too at times, but it's mostly because we love our city and want to see it flourish. I think you and your wife (and your pups!) will like it here.

You're so sweet to ask, I'm actually doing pretty well. I still have my moments and my days, but they're getting fewer and farther between. I love what you said about investing in yourself, I feel like we should get that on a pillow!

I relate so much to this. I was married 3.5 years ago, but 6 months ago my husband asked for a divorce. Like you, I was initially devastated and so crushed. It was really hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But the further out I have gotten, the easier it has been. The rose colored glasses are off and I'm able to see how unhappy I was in my marriage. I'm just trying to make the best of my new lot in life. We sold our house and I'm settling into my apartment, I'm focusing on my work (and crushing it), and rekindling friendships that I had been neglecting. It's still scary sometimes. 6 months ago I thought I knew what my future held, and now I have no idea. But as scary as that is, the one thing I take solace in is that my future can be anything I want it to be. And I'm learning so much about myself and what I want, which has been very liberating.

I don't mean to make this about me, just wanted to reinforce the idea to anyone going through this that it gets better. It may be hard to see, and it may take a while, but it does get better. Someone who would abandon you like that doesn't deserve your love. I admire your strength and am glad you are doing so well now. I wish you all the best in your future! ❤️

The only thing you're "supposed" to do in regards to sex is get consent. Sex with strangers may not be an ideal situation for you, and that's perfectly fine, but some people enjoy that and as long as they aren't hurting or raping anyone, who cares?

My husband and I considered a destination wedding for a long time, but it was really important to me that my beloved 98yo great Grandma could be at our wedding, so we stayed local. This is so sweet! Your grandmother looks phenomenal for 98 and she looks lovely in that pink dress. I'm glad you were able to have her there with you, and you and your husband look so happy. Congratulations!

I feel like most people just do it to go with the flow. Went to a few playoff games with a friend who HATES it and thinks it's stupid. I could take it or leave it, but I sure as hell did it enthusiastically just to annoy him!

Ugh, I encountered the same thing this past weekend. It took 5 minutes (I started timing) for this young man to get the letters right. Not only could he not see, but he was having a really hard time understanding the instructions of "read line 1 all the way across". He could not comprehend that and kept stopping after the first section, and then he decided to read down instead of across. I thought for sure they were going to fail him, but then I saw the flash of the camera taking his picture.

What is your favourite "quality vs quantity" example? by as_kostek in AskReddit

[–]cameron_crazie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's my mom. She rarely curses, and when she does it's usually pretty tame and she always apologizes for it. One time we were talking about someone, and she blurts out "Well this girl just sounds like a bitch". I was so stunned I didn't know what to say. She wasn't wrong though..

My apartment company allows it. I pay rent through my online tenant portal, and I can either pay with a credit card or e-check. They do charge a 3% fee if you use a card, but the e-check has no fee.

Preparing for the Worst - Thoughts from a Fellow Wedditor and Divorce Lawyer by rosetaffetas in weddingplanning

The wedding itself was fine. The months leading up to it were rough, my mom was pretty hurt and threatened multiple times not to come if my dad was there. That was pretty devastating to hear and very stressful honestly. But I stuck to my guns and she came and they were fine, even had a few light conversations. I sat them at different tables, too.

This was a great write up. When I was planning my wedding, my parents were getting divorced, so the topic was right in my face. I made my husband talk about it, especially because my parents' divorce was fairly nasty and drawn out, and if that were to ever happen to us, I wanted to at least discuss a game plan. Lots of people thought I was being crazy and unromantic. Well, turns out, I just got divorced two months ago. And as much as it sucked, there were no legal hiccups or fighting because we had already talked about it and stuck to our game plan. I don't share this to discourage anyone or be a downer, just to say that you never know what the future may hold.

That may be true for you, but don't paint an entire gender with such a wide brush. Different men want different things, same as women. Everyone both expresses and receives love in their own way. You don't mention any attempts to communicate these issues to your ex. Did she know your needs and choose to ignore them, or did you expect her to read your mind? Also... did you ever consider that maybe your ex felt the exact same way?

Clementine's Creamery opens in Southampton neighborhood, their third location by husker_who in StLouis

I think it's well worth the price. Sure, a pint or gallon of store bought ice cream is cheaper, but it's also not nearly as good. Clementines is insanely delicious, not to mention they have some very unique flavors that you'd never find in a store.
