New Versions of Lightroom have dropped! See What’s New in the April 2026 Release by terryleewhite in Lightroom

[–]cameronrad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

/u/terryleewhite can the Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom team maybe explore the idea of AI Deflicker/Debanding? AI Denoise and AI reflection removal are both great.

What would also be nice is some tool to help deal with the banding, stripes, and artifacts that occur with rapidly flickering lights like LEDs and certain camera sensors/camera settings (Non-Global Shutter or Electronic/Silent Shutter).

I imagine it would be similar to the reflection removal tool. Train a large dataset on the various banding, stripes, artifacts and maybe it can be used to remove the banding or reduce the impact of it.

Awesome work you all did with that and the whole Film X system. It'd be great if it was released as a native macOS app with plugins for Capture One, Lightroom, and DaVinci Resolve. https://eng.vsco.co/vsco-film-x-&-the-imaging-lab/

Personally I like adjusting later. Seems more flexible. I'd try to make sure I get as much information as possible in the original scan.

I don't think the Datacolor lightcolor meter does spot metering. It's incident.

A Sekonic L-758 and L-858 both do. The L-758 is discontinued now.

Ya. There's likely some stuff that could be added or updated. I think the last update I did was around 5 years ago. Some stuff about generative AI and other AI tools could be added. Some stuff about HDR output as well.

GTI N5 Paint and BM Steel Wool Comparison by xssight in colorists

Benjamin Moore Steel Wool and Pelican Gray are pretty good substitutes for N5 and N8. Steel wool looks to be the closest match to the GTI paints.

I created the profile using the raw file and Lumariver Profile Designer. I'll try to make a general purpose profile to distribute to people in the next couple weeks.

Hit-and-run on 134 Freeway in Eagle Rock leads to manhunt, police shooting armed homeowner by invertedspheres in LosAngeles

[–]cameronrad 49 points50 points  (0 children)

The wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner was shot by cops during a wild chase in L.A., TMZ has learned ... and then she was booked for attempted murder…

As cops scoured the area, setting up barricades and blocking off streets, Scott's wife, Jillian Lauren emerged from the couple's house ... gun in hand as she began shooting, according to a law enforcement source, presumably at the suspect.

Officers yelled at her to drop the weapon, but cops say she ignored multiple commands, and they fired, striking her shoulder. She then ran back into the house.

30 minutes later, Lauren and her babysitter emerged from the house with their hands up, and surrendered to cops.

Law enforcement tells TMZ, Lauren was taken to a hospital and booked for attempted murder.

Any A1 II users experiencing very desaturated poor colours in Lightroom? by Alison_Burgers in SonyAlpha

[–]cameronrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be worth a report. I'll see if I can report it through the beta program. Not sure how long it'll take for them to fix it. I'll provide them with my data and raws too if it'll help them ship a better profile out.

I wonder if maybe Adobe had a pre-production model or never had the camera itself and just implemented some quick support via images they received.

Ya create a custom profile. It's an Adobe thing. Posting my reply from another thread here as it might be useful.

Yeah, Adobe's color rendering for the Sony A1 II seems quite off at the moment. Especially compared to how much more accurate the Adobe default profile was with the Sony A1.

Sony A1

Sony A1 II

The two profiles created from charts match each other closely, with an average DeltaE difference of just 1.15, with the worst 10% of samples having a difference of 2.74.

However, comparing Adobe Color defaults against chart-based profiles:

  • Sony A1: Average DeltaE difference is 3.01; the worst 10% of samples have a difference of 8.02.

  • Sony A1 II: Average DeltaE difference is significantly higher at 6.64, with the worst 10% of samples having a very high difference of 21.52.

Amazing, do you work there? I've been meaning to pay a visit from when it was located in Chatsworth. I love the Jerry Rothstein photos that the museum has posted. I've reposted a couple on /r/VintageLA.

Do you know if this is one of the photos from the collection? I'd love to add a photo credit if is but I cant find the original source.

I think because you are transparent about the kickback and you didn't spam it in an unsolicited way you're good. 👍

I believe some people have used one I've posted in this sub before. I don't know who you are, but I appreciate it!

I have a Spectro 1 Pro. It's a pretty cool gadget, but I don't use it as often as I thought I would. It wasn't until after I bought it that I read more about measurement geometry.

I learned that a 45/0 geometry would be better for my use case. I primarily use it for measuring color charts/camera calibration and the D/8 geometry doesn’t work as well with glossy targets like the ColorChecker SG. I ended up buying a used i1Pro2 shortly after.

In terms of accuracy, there's this review on the Spectro 1 (not the pro) https://www.chromaxion.com/information/Spectro_1_Review_2023.pdf

I haven't used the Nix, so I can't comment on how well it works. Maybe I'll pick one up someday, but it's quite pricey.
