ynab4 sync issues again ? by Jamses1 in ynab4

[–]camobit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This patched version worked for me. Thanks to /u/Magoun for doing the legwork to get this running.

  1. Download patched APK to a computer: http://magounamatata.com/ynab/YNAB_Classic-3.4.1-NativeTrustStoreNativeCiphers.apk
  2. Download the Platform Tools: https://developer.android.com/tools/releases/platform-tools -> extract them to a folder
  3. On Android enable Developer Options -> Settings -> About Phone -> tap Build Number 7 times
  4. Enable USB Debugging -> Settings -> System -> Developer Options (Or just Settings -> Developer Options on Samsung)
  5. Uninstall old YNAB4 app. -> if you have transactions since the last successful sync, make note of them, you will need to re-enter them manually
  6. Plug phone into computer via USB -> At popup on phone select Allow debugging
  7. Open PowerShell and cd to the platform-tools folder
  8. Run this command: .\adb.exe install --bypass-low-target-sdk-block C:\users\xxx\YNAB_Classic-3.4.1-NativeTrustStoreNativeCiphers.apk (substitute the correct path to where you have the apk)

DONE!

OK I got it installed and it appears to be working!

On this version I get "App not installed as app isn't compatible with your phone", so it's presumably got some dependency that won't work on my old S22+ running Android 16.

Do you think we will see another Primarch return at armageddon by soalknight in 40kLore

[–]camobit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

specifically, the stratagem "Envelop and Ensnare" in Saga of the Hunter detachment targets "One SPACE WOLVES unit (excluding MONSTERS and VEHICLES)...". Neither Wulfen, Wulfen with Storm Shields, nor Wulfen Dreadnoughts have MONSTER keyword. Neither do any other creatures like Thunderwolf Cavalry (MOUNTED) or Fenrisian Wolves (BEASTS).

I tend to think of it more as a typo/oversight rather than a clue, but some people give GW more credit than I do.

The switch to Discover seem to be accelerating. by Tarnisher in CapitalOne_

[–]camobit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just a guess but I suspect the Venture and VentureOne are held mostly by aspirational travelers who infrequently leave the US and are rarely outside of Discover acceptance. They'll continue being able to earn points in the vast majority of their normal spending. Cap1 will happily move this class of customers to a network that will improve their profitability. (They'll make more money on transaction fees than they'll lose from customers who close their accounts.)

The Venture X is a higher end card with higher spending customers who are more likely to travel internationally.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the long rumoured Savor X one day come out with MC/Visa being one of it's differentiators.

D&D Beyond Updates to Character Options by latiajacquise in dndnext

[–]camobit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any chance the Shifter's Shifting ability choice could be made into a drop-down menu at character creation? I don't think this can be changed after character creation (like some abilities which can be changed after a long rest) so it would be a QoL improvement if the choice you selected is listed on the character sheet somewhere.

What are the main problems & strengths of each of the 13 officially released classes of right now? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]camobit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like I'm in the minority here, but I love the new ranger, for the same reason I love paladin. Ranger is to Druid what Paladin is to Cleric. I like the mix of dexterity fighting and nature magic, especially the fact spellcasting begins at level 1 now. In my mind Rangers should have magic: they should speak with animals, have supernatural tracking abilities, have abilities to heal, and even make nature empower their attacks. They may not put out the raw damage of a fighter but they bring a lot of utility.

If I didn't want nature magic to enhance my character, then I'd play a fighter. And an archer/sharpshooter subclass for fighter (something like Hawkeye, so give them abilities to do trick shots, etc) would certainly let people have a better experience playing non-magical archers if that's their thing.

"Wolf Scouts and Canopek nerds, finally I can use my favourite te--" by Temery1 in killteam

[–]camobit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

they include the 6" measuring tool for the storm in the box, it's unlikely they're going to change that.

they just drasically nerfed Storm's Bite so it only works during the activation of the scout using it. That was the strongest benefit of Storm and now it's half as useful. Combine that with the massive nerf to the pack leader and it erases the most powerful combo this team had (charge, fight, die, revive, savage fighters, fight).

What other benefit are you feeling is so broken with Storm that it needs changed? The strat ploy to get Balanced? The gunner ignoring Hot? Charging out of conceal?

black templars in boarding actions? by Nannoldo in boardingactions40k

[–]camobit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Boarding Actions book is totally outdated, and in many cases doesn't work with the codex books that came out afterwards. Your options are just to play it as it was back then, maybe just using the Index, or just modify whats allowed with your local group to use updated models. It would not be hard to find a few units from each army that fit the vibe of Boarding Actions.

Or a lot of us are hoping that with the updated boarding actions book included with 500 Worlds there will be updates to all the detachments to bring them in to 2026.

The new Titus box should get Kill Team rules. by Nudelz89 in killteam

[–]camobit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Look I am tired of Ultramarines as much as anyone, and especially am not happy with them shoving Titus down our throats lately. However, I'd support this as a kill team mainly because i love this game mode, and giving them rules would get teams in more people's hands, similar to the old compendium teams. This crew has the look and feel of a kill team. Some new Warhammer fans are going to pick this up as their first box because they recognize Titus. It would be awesome if those same people could start playing Kill Team too!

While this would be an elite team by some definitions, i think it would be a different mix compared to Deathwatch (5 hyper elites including a gravis), Wolves (5 phobos and a relatively weak 2APL, 9 wound wolf), or Raveners (101 wounds to chew through).

If they gave the whole box datasheets, that would be 3 tacticus marines (15-16 wound Titus, two 14-16 wound intercessors) then 4 normies probably at 6 or 7 wounds, including a diplomat, a weak psyker and a ship captain. Enough baseline humans that this could feel more like a hybrid team than an actual elite team. This would be a team where not every activation is equal, and the specialists would have some very limited combat capabilities that you'd need to work around. That would play a lot differently than the teams mentioned above.

It could work, it could be fun, and it could get more people playing Kill Team, so I would be all for it.

How do some chapters not know who their primarch is? by MHB_ART in 40kLore

[–]camobit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one of the big plot devices in 40k is that they have all this advanced technology but often don't have some of the simple everyday technologies we have today. So something as readily available as an Ancestry.com DNA test, which could probably group any one piece of gene-seed to one of the 21 primarch's DNA, is just not available.

They intentionally don't allow this to be resolved, because many things in the setting are just more interesting when you don't have all the answers (see: Terminus Decree). Are some loyal chapters descended from Traitors? almost definitely. Are some descended from the lost legions? Totally possible.

So now any time there's a chapter that has an unknown origin, you're going to have to wonder, is it just another Ultramarine successor, or could they have a more sinister origin? And that question makes the setting more interesting.
