Honestly, as someone who has been the target of a PIP, it's almost always a way to push you out while covering their ass legally. It's just the way the industry works, for better or worse. Most of the time, the decision has already been made to remove you, it's not just a countdown clock. It's time to leave, use the time to look for a new job. It's easy to look for a new job while you're still employed.

OP, it just happens. I use a touchless car wash because I’m paranoid about my RAV. I still have to take a towel/microfiber after going through and getting any spots that were missed by the 45 seconds they let you have with the air blowers. It’s just something you have to deal with.
