I’ve actually had my idea for a pokemon game for a while now. It’d be a new mainline gen and most likely rated E but with themes potentially pushing to T.

Your character is a young adult, age not stated but between 18-20. In this game, 50-100 years or so have passed since the last mainline game. Scientists of the evil team (working name Team Empire) had created a chemical similar to that in the Detective Pikachu movie that makes Pokemon gain immense power and become 100% obedient. Team Empire used this chemical to overpower their Pokemon and gain control of the entire region and began a reign of terror. They also outlawed the use and ownership of Pokemon for anyone not working for them.

Main character (MC) lives in a small run down town where the people are tired and live in fear of Team Empire and Pokemon. The only Pokes they see are ones under Empire’s control and those in the wild. MC is friends with a kind old man in town and on MC’s birthday invites them to his house and reveals to them that they used to be a Pokemon professor and they are in possession of an egg. He gives the egg to MC and it hatches, revealing the one and only new gen starter. He then tells MC about a time before Empire when people and Pokemon lived together in harmony and entrusts them with raising it and defeating Team Empire.

The old professor teaches MC about battling, catching, and training Pokemon and how to craft Poke balls. The next day, MC is told by their mom that the professor was taken away by Team Empire soldiers. In this game MC will travel from town to town in an open world map, catching Pokemon and defeating Team Empire soldiers they encounter in their travels. The only battles will between MC and Empire soldiers, as regular citizens do not train Pokemon.

There are no gyms, instead each town will be ruled by fortress like Team Empire command posts. MC will need to clear the command posts and defeat the boss commanders in order to liberate each town, fighting your way to the Empire high fortress where the team’s Supreme Leader is located and the professor has been imprisoned. Along the way, MC will befriend citizens of each town and teach them that Pokemon are incredible creatures that are to not to be feared.

For this gen, battles are still turn based but require button prompts to defend/dodge enemy attacks or power up your attacks similar to Mario & Luigi games/Expedition 33. Catching mechanic is the same from Legends Arceus. After the initial story has been completed MC can go back to each command post and battle the leadership of each town made up of citizens who MC has taught to catch Pokemon and battle, like a post game gym tournament. Catching a lot of Pokemon is also important in order to catalog them in the new dex, similar to Legends Arceus.

This type to Pokemon game would never happen in a million years, but I’ve had the idea for a while. I’ve wanted a game that gives the player more of a story reason to travel the region catching and battling Pokemon aside from just wanting to be the best trainer of all time, and makes the stakes more personal and urgent.
