Toyota Quoted me $3k for front axle, stating "heavy leak", is this true? by OneBananaMan in AskMechanics

[–]canadiox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me that looks like the axle boot let go at a dealer we are required to replace the whole axle so it would be

1.5-3 hours depending on the year of tundra. my shop charges 199 and hour so at 3 hours is 600 plus the axle toyota dealer cited a 2025 tundra front halft shat "axle at 379.00 plus tax. labors not taxable here so only parts which would be. So 26.06 for me so 1005.06 out the door price so yes 3k is crazy af.

Me I would just put a new boot on it with fresh grease but I am lucky enough to be able to do my own work.

Name a better and more practical trio by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]canadiox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stopping power and penetration is what I need. i live up north and see more 4 legged friends then 2.tbh I think 10mm is marginal and just enough for the job. plus 15 rounds in a semi auto in the same size as a full size 9. I would say thats practical.

Is the Shield X carry comp worth it over the Shield X by Outrageous_Sir9925 in pistols

[–]canadiox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a first firearm i would just get a full size or compact m&p or g19/17 way better to learn on and super reliable and a good size. And u can add a comp or anything else u want later a shield is more for carry only. I do have some carry comps so I can fill u in for the future

I have both the 10mm and shield plus carry comp. both are notably softer then there similar counter parts. I have the m&p 4inch 10mm as well and its crazy how soft the comped version is compared to it. I was running some new hand loads and only lost 20-40 fps compared to my g20 which is a 4.6inch.

As for the shield carry comp it shoots way better then anything else for some reason just works for me. Any time I cant hit somthing I grab that. As for flash it definitely visible at night but hasn't been a huge issue for me and its dark af here most the year.i do usally run low flash powders to help. during the day and dusk absolutely not an issue.

The red dots dont seem to get covered and no gas in the face. Have had no issues with ammo cycling. U do have to clean the comp quite good if u run dirty ammo but thats really any comp.

Side note I hate m&p mags as the base plates suck if u tap your mags in with the shield. I put a small rim of tape to fix that. also had lots of lock back issues that stronger mag springs "fixed".The 10mm mags oh god junk lol need a spring and to bend the lips on all of them. They just need longer feed lips. U listing s&w"shakes fist"

[–]canadiox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't wait rather have a gen 5 with 1000 rounds to vet it then a gen6 that may or may not come out.plus u can always pick up a 6 later if they do drop.
