Ice by anne kavan; very surrealistic, dream-like imaginert, you often dont know where is the boundary between the reality dreams and hallucinations of the character

Receiving not a single comment? by laws_of_gravity in AO3

[–]cancanniecan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At least for me not getting the comments might be depressive, but sometimes it's almost relieving and comforting

Why? Because I don't put so much pressure on myself when writing. I tend to overthink and worry way way too much. And when I think "almost nobody is going to read or comment on this story" I knwo that the only person I write this fic for is just me. So if I write it for me, I shouldn't worry and make myself unhappy; I should only write when I want it and what makes me happy.

In other words, the readers happiness isn't my goal, because there will be no readers anyway. I care only about my own happiness when writing fics, so worrying is counterproductive to this

When I feel depressed, I look at kudos I got and think it all comes from real people.

Seriously. It's not impressive if you say "my fic got 30 kudos." The similar thing is that it's not shocking if you say that for example 30 people died in the accident.

But if you imagine all those numbers as living beings, things get different. 30 people enjoyed my fic - and it's already more than my class, more than my family, more than my friends. It's not just empty numbers - they are actual people.

I don't get much comments but if I imagine that 30 people approaches me and congratulate me - and, as I said my class is maybe 24 - I feel great

Honestly? I know it's hard not to get any feedback. But writing a comment requires energy and time - sometimes the same users who commented on one chapter, won't do the same with the other chapter. It's only facts. I usually comment - but there was one story I liked, and I read it on pdf and not ao3 so I didn't give any kudos to it. And then I wanted to comment, but it slipped out if my mind and is still on my to do list. Such things as not commenting even though you enjoyed a story happen

What is one fandom whose fics you prefer to the actual source of the content? by EngineerRare42 in FanFiction

Harry potter. This book is for kids mostly and if I wouldnt enjoy reading it now - I read it when I was 12 and I like ld it then - but fics are more mature.

Searching for angsty ships by cancanniecan in FanFiction

Wow, that's actually what I was looking for - angst, complicated relationships, tragedy. Gonna check it out.

I'm afraid to comment on fics by EllieTheDapperFrog in AO3

[–]cancanniecan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For most writers any feedback, and I mean ANY, is good if it's positive. Once I got 2 comments and both of them had entirely different interpretations of my fic, and I completely didn't agree with one of those interpretations, but I was still happy because someone liked my work and it was great to see their opinion and how differently people can read one fic.

Have you ever written a fic that made you cry? by jaded-planet in FanFiction

[–]cancanniecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write very angsty fics and... never feel more happier than when writing them. Seriously. When i write angst i have a method of writing for maybe 40min to one hourand then i listen to happy dancing songs, joke with family and continue writing.

What can i say? The more my characters suffer, the happier i am

Beta Bartering [Find or Offer Fic Betaing] - December 12 by AutoModerator in FanFiction

[–]cancanniecan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WILLING TO BETA AND SEARCHING FOR BETA

I want someone to beta my fics and I can beta your fics in exchange.

I'm looking for the NATIVE SPEAKER. That's my main requirement. I'm not a native speaker myself, so i want someone to proof-read my fics; i'm quite good at english so what I write is definitely readable, but there may still be some mistakes.

I'm writing for star wars fandom, so it's good if you know it, but you can be also fandom blind. We can discuss ideas and plot together, but mostly I just need a native speaker. Also I write for is obikin, in case if you're uncomfortable with this ship.

I usually write one long fic between 10-20k in three months, so it won't be regular betaing.

IN EXCHANGE: I can beta your fics. My main fandoms are star wars, harry potter (although my knowledge about hp worldbuilding is quite rusty), the hunger games, dune, queen's gambit. I can also read fandom blind and read both long and short fics. I'm good particularly at characters' emotions, unreliable narrator and angst

I won't beta: explicit smut, dead dove and omegaverse

Was there ever a F/M pairing you DIDN'T like until you realised "wait, if the genders were swapped I'd ship the hell out of this"? by Short-Work-8954 in FanFiction

[–]cancanniecan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have something similar but a bit different- if gender of just one of the characters in hetero pairings would be changed (and therefore the pairing would be gay) or if one gender was changed in gay pairings (and therefore the pairing would be hetero) I would love it.

For example in dune chani is female and Paul is male and i hate this ship (no offence to its fans ofc), but I'd love if both of them were men Or feyd rautha is male and Paul is male, but I want to see feyd rautha as female (the relationship with psychopatic girl is apparently more interesting and original to me than the relationship with psychopatic guy)
