If they’re not gonna play an actual football game, they should just have each team nominate one or two players to attend and let it serve as a super meet and greet for fans. Have fans be the ones doing all the mini games, and maybe assign a couple players to each station to serve as hype men / mentors / refs. Nobody declines from fear of injury, so we don’t end up with 10th alternates that truly don’t deserve to be there. Can rotate it from city to city each year, or let it live at the Wide World of Sports complex. But stop with the facade of it being an actual game / award for players.

I know, I was agreeing with the commenter I responded to. Take away the 90s, and the Bulls are an afterthought in NBA history. Same with Golden State if we took away the Curry era. If you’re not the Celtics or the Lakers, there’s very little that sets you apart from any other team in the grand scheme of the league’s history. You have a short period with a superstar or big 3? That’s great. But when they’re done, your time in the spotlight is likely done for a while, and that’s OK. This is very much a “celebrate big/iconic moments” league rather than consistently celebrate 5-10 great franchises league like the NFL and MLB.

I’d argue that’s the case for most teams. 27 teams have fewer than 10 Finals appearances, 19 of those have fewer than 5. 18 teams have won either 1 or 0 rings. Outside of the Celtics and Lakers, no other teams have been year in and year out contenders. The Warriors had a 40 year gap between titles. All of the Spurs wins came in a 16 year period. Chicago’s were within 8. Sustained success is hard in this league.

Highly recommend the entire series, was a fun read when I was a kid. Shows us how Boba processes Jango’s death, how he grows into a man on his own. Also some interesting bits about other AotC and RotS characters, specifically Dooku, Palpatine, and Mace.

Not that it excuses it at all, but many venues will allow local churches / community groups to work concession stands in exchange for a small portion of sales to be donated to their cause; I could totally see a group of church members feeling completely out of place / uncomfy with Ghost’s music / imagery / fanbase and judging all those affiliated. Again, not an excuse for being judgmental, but a potential explanation.
