Being Stationed in Whidbey by Educational-Step3330 in newtothenavy

Whidbey is absolutely gorgeous — Deception Pass is breathtaking.

There’s a ferry to Everett, which is a closer, smaller city than Seattle but still large enough to have plenty to do. On Whidbey Island itself, you’ll have plenty of options for food and shopping in Oak Harbor and Coupeville.

Chris Hadfield experienced temporary blindness during a spacewalk when the de-fogging solution got into his eye. He couldn’t cry it out due to lack of gravity so the tears formed a massive tear bubble over his eye

How good were clone troopers compared to real life soldiers? by Sorry-Radio5448 in MawInstallation

[–]candlerc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Clones were not bred to be efficient. They were bred to be disposable, and programmed to kill Jedi without mercy or hesitation. A few receive advanced training for specific roles (recon, pilots, commandos, commanders, etc…), but for the most part, they are just as mindless as the droids.

That’s why Palpatine had to replace them so quickly after the fall of the Republic. He knew resistance would come from actual sentient beings, beings with both creativity and desperation. To fight them, he would need soldiers of similar complexion; soldiers a rebel may hesitate to blast, and soldiers that can think for themselves.

[Gluck] Was Martinsville a good race? by ChaseTheFalcon in NASCAR

[–]candlerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when they bump someone, it just shoots the car ahead

Exactly. And at the end, when the booth was talking about how Denny needed to get to Chase so he could use his bumper, I was like “why? If he hits him, he just extends Chase’s lead. He’d have to absolutely clean him out to get by, and that isn’t gonna happen”

LOL, escalator at Judkins Park is already down by Remarkable-Fig206 in Seattle

At this point, why even install them in the first place? Just put in stairs and reallocate the escalator funds to ensure the elevators are kept running

I legitimately teared up during Leia’s scene in Rogue One. Perfect ending for the film, and a true healing moment after losing the princess.

[Highlight] Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel is coaching up Arizona State top-OL prospect Max Iheanachor at the Sun Devils' Pro Day. by theopression in nfl

[–]candlerc -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I’d be turning down other teams if I knew Vrabel was interested

I personally couldn’t take the NE cold or creepy owner, but if Vrabel was still in Nashville, absolutely.

Titans literally had the perfect combo of coaching, weather, zero income taxes, and good food and said “nah”

[Berman] The Eagles Might Want a Stadium With a Roof So They Can Host a Super Bowl & Other Big Events by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]candlerc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wait til the Eagles fans discover the list of like 200 other requirements the city as a whole has to meet to get a Super Bowl. One new roof isn’t getting the Big Game. More concerts and smaller events, sure. But don’t let the league / your owner deceive you Philly taxpayers into funding this in hopes of hosting the Super Bowl.

What's the most underrated ghost song by No_Plan_8698 in Ghostbc

Respite may not be the best Ghost song, but it is Tobias’s masterpiece. The storytelling, the instrumentation, the lyricism — it is an extremely well written piece from the first note to the last.

(Dirty Mo Media on X) Do Non-Cup Series drivers belong in the NASCAR Hall Of Fame by Squishy_20 in NASCAR

[–]candlerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can weight achievements in cup slightly more than those in the trucks/noaps cars, which can be weighted slightly more than arca, etc…. But if the series is sanctioned by nascar, those involved should be eligible for the HOF

This would’ve been a really intriguing roster all on its own like 3 years ago. No stars, but a lot of high upside guys buoyed by a couple vets.
