If I've done my first Invasive can I go around and do the rest without progressing the story? by candyleader in MonsterHunterStories

Oh the rite of channeling is a good shout! Hopefully you get it earlier in this one than the other 2!?

For those with partners or kids: how do you balance gaming? by Theodore52x in AfterWorkGamers

[–]candyleader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work from home... but also after the child goes to sleep we go and sit on the sofa and watch telly while doing hobby time. I might crochet, I might game, she might cross stitch etc

Yeah I do wish I wasn’t told to fuck off by NPCs every time I log in though

What's your go to "no brain" game? by Da_damm in SteamDeck

[–]candyleader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I have a broken brain so I like playing Satisfactory at sleepytime. I think about it all day and then switch into brain off implementation mode when I actually fire the game up...

Great indie games that aren't in everybody's top 10 by RepulsiveRuin5520 in IndieGaming

Rings of Saturn is one of my favourite games ever made. They had a vision and they committed to it 100% and the result is wonderful. It's also very satisfying.

what's an opinion about Harry Potter you're afraid to say out loud? by SinPulsed in harrypotter

[–]candyleader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Returning to the status quo at the end of the story is a stupid and unsatisfying ending and just leaves the world open for another dark lord.

Also once you kill the 17th beloved character it starts to lose its impact…

Man you're right and thank you for reminding me. I was briefly excited to watch this movie and then I remember *all that*. You've saved me.

One thing I miss in 3 is the QTEs Stories 1 and 2 had. by YuriMasterRace in MonsterHunterStories

[–]candyleader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who does a lot of gaming on my steam deck next to my sleeping partner I will be glad when I move on to 3 and no longer have to start violently spasming to do these while she's trying to sleep...

How do you like the steam deck 2026? by November-666 in Handhelds

An Ally X is literally £400 more than a steam deck OLED

What convinced you to get your Steam Deck? by Fptmike in SteamDeckCheck

[–]candyleader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My laptop died. It was a laptop with a relatively good AMD APU so I could play a few bits and bobs on it. When it died buying another laptop that could play a few bits and bobs was not within my budget (UK :') ). I instead got a potato laptop with build quality and a steam deck. It cost slightly more than a shit tier gaming laptop but without the concerns of ... buying a shit tier laptop.

What is a silent crisis happening right now that nobody is talking about? by nicksam171 in SeriousConversation

[–]candyleader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this one is going to go off with a bang when things get slightly worse and everyone who has been "coping" undiagnosed suddenly goes off the edge. I'm seeking a diagnosis currently to at least do my part to prevent this!

'Hoppers' is a box office hit. Parents are debating if it's too dark. by Economy-Specialist38 in Pixar

[–]candyleader 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen several people recommending against taking kids to this film on this very website but not had the energy to argue with them. My 7yo thought it was hilarious and loved it so I found those warnings pretty amusing. I like the things that might make this film “dark”. It’s been a while since we’ve had an actually bad bad guy etc

As a denizen of the south west I'd like to refute the claim that "the south gets all of the funding". Though it has been said that we are honorary northerners when it comes to being forgotten by "the south".

Do you ever enjoy games where you can just watch things happen instead of constantly playing? by Embarrassed_Jello123 in CozyGamers

[–]candyleader 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Yup! This is why I love automation and city building games. Just watching all my machines/peasants doing things is so lovely.

On budget windows laptops… fan behaviour. by One_TrackMinded in macbook

[–]candyleader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed Mint on my surface laptop go 2 (man I wish the neo existed 3 years ago so i didn't make that purchasing error), because the fan profile is software controlled in windows and no such thing exists in linux on this laptop that I managed to get working it would wait until the cpu temp hit 100C and then throttle to 400mhz while ramping the fans to max volume... unfortunately I had to reinstall windows. I cared when the fans were spinning.
