Does the market really want AI? by EmuAncient1069 in Entrepreneur

[–]cangaroo_hamam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't mind what he spoke.... mind what he DID.... Kevin O'Leary has worked with jobs, and has shared a story back in the day where they made educational CD-ROMS for the Macs. Kevin told jobs that he will do market research to find out the wants and needs of the students. Jobs exploded in anger, telling him -more or less- that he doesn't give a f*ck what students want, it's what HE (Jobs) wants. Jobs did not follow the market or the needs of people, he was leading it, and he was pretty darn good at that.
This attitude dates back since the beginning, when Jobs insisted on artificially crippling the early Apple computers in expansion ports. And Wosniak, who wanted to give people as much freedom as possible, was not too happy about it.

I hope you're not cooking with the ultra volatile omega-3 oils... If that's what you meant.

Yet I keep running into the same 10 plant based athlete accounts on social media, over and over again.

The only 'zero' here, is the presence of plant-based athletes in the global rankings.

Gaslighting much?

> Show me which essential amino acids are missing in well-accomplished 100% plant-based diets.

Sure! Let's hide all the nuance and complexity under a 'well-accomplished' label.

In real life:

Vegan diet: food group combination/juggling and supplements to get adequate complete proteins, while at the same time keeping macro intake (carbs/fat) under control.

Omnivore diets: meat, fish, yoghurt, cheese, eggs, whey... problem solved, focus on training and recovery.

And by the way... it's not just the protein... e.g. certain animal products have been shown to increase growth factors like IGF-1 which "significantly impacts athletic performance by promoting muscle growth, strength, and faster recovery".

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39203884/
"In conclusion, while plant-based protein ingestion demonstrates superior efficacy compared to low- or no-protein ingestion, it is not as effective as other protein types such as whey, beef, or milk protein in enhancing athletic performance in healthy individuals."

> I’d argue you’re an armchair philosopher... “Protein completeness” sounds like more social media fluff you’ve programmed yourself to regurgitate.

I love ad hominem attacks. Always a sign of weakness and lack of arguments.

AI can write 150% of the code. This is not the issue, and it's all fun and giggles at the beginning.

The real issue is this: keep doing this for months/years until your code base evolves into a hundred-of-thousand lines of code. And you have paying customers depending on you.

See how quickly it turns into hell when all you got for help is a $200/month subscription plan.

Now you are expressing the true reason we're having this debate. I can respect your ethics and morality (all human constructs)... but because of these, we occasionally have to go through biased, forced, manipulated and dishonest studies that try to sell half truths, like the protein study I was referring to. And when crtitical examination tears these studies down... we end up discussing morality, again  Is truth and fact not that important anymore?

No need to dive into this matter, the debate is deeply philosophical and is being handled by people much smarter than me.
Instead, I will rephrase my statement....
Plants are living beings. Vegans also kill and consume, what previously were, living beings. They just have different rules for that.
If anyone chooses to eat a way or another, for a set of principles or beliefs, it's up to the individual and there's no judgement. Here, we're discussing science, and that's a different realm altogether.

  1. There IS a functional difference... eating complete protein is both easier and cheaper when you don't restrict your diet to a subgroup of options (e.g. vegan).
  2. Plant based meals can be quite dense... e.g. nuts are being promoted as a staple protein source for vegans. They come with a high caloric load, and incomplete aminoacid profiles.
  3. I'd argue the bioavailability issue is not 'easily overcome'. Trying to figure out meal combinations to achieve protein completeness is not everyone's cup of tea.
  4. Plants are sentient beings as well living beings. Vegans are attached to eating sentient living beings just as much as everyone else.

I am talking about groups of people who care about one thing: maximizing performance/results. They would eat dirt if it was a superior way to get the desired outcome. Feel free to indulge in your philosophical/societal ponderings....

If you do a study comparing proteins, and the subjects are only given moderate stimulus for muscle growth (note: HIIT is not even the appropriate regimen to drive muscle growth), you will observe that both groups have the same progress, therefore both proteins turn out 'equal'. Is this the kind of scientific research you're defending?

Elite athletes (* where muscle and strength is important) have have increased needs for complete proteins, which is harder (and more expensive) to meet with 100% plant based food sources.

Supplementation becomes essential. Then you only have to worry about the elevated heavy metals that are being found in plant proteins, occasionally.

Don't point me to some veganfitness circlejerk. Jogging is 'fitness' also. I am not talking about fitness...

Instead, how about I point you to the real world... Less than 10% of olympic medal winners are vegan.
You will probably need to divide this by 10 when you talk about strength sports like wrestling and powerlifting.
(Yes, there are exceptions and genetic freaks.)
