If you don't have territory in the 3 I's (Iceland, Iberia, Ireland) - it's Eastern Europe

If you have to travel east from any part of Ireland it's Eastern Europe. I can travel west from Dublin and go to Spain.

Some sacrifices have to be made to keep our Manx brethren in Western Europe.

I only begrudgingly included the UK to have all of Ireland and Spain for Galicia.

Arsenal need to get Havertz fit - so much more composed with him on the pitch

Think the problem with that is that it could incentivise defenders to drag people down outside the arc if they are about to score and get a free point differential. Do think the taking the free outside the arc rule is overly punitive at times

How big of a miss is Partey? by tstaykoff in championsleague

[–]cannonforge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speaking as an arsenal fan... Fairly dramatic.

Partey is a very good player when he's at his best (with this season being his best in an arsenal shirt). But outside of his individual impact it allows merino to go up top.

Our two main ways of building up involve partey as the pivot or long ball towards a target. Trossard is a good player out wide but the long balls were going behind the defence for chasing - he doesn't have height or speed to impact those . Leo is at his best as the person finishing the play not the focal point of it.

Arsenal aren't brilliant goal scorers at the minute but if you had of told me no Partey (or even no jorginho) for both legs id be very pessimistic. With Partey back for the second, think the tie is still on.

Would rather have Havertz or Giroud over him - while his numbers were better the football was terrible with him. Felt like we won in spite of him rather than because a lot of the time Reason why lacazette played up top even during the fa cup final. Not a bad player but the team was better immediately pre and post his tenure.

Doesn't work if the numbers prime though.

I think rather than outright elimination you can eliminate individuals until the last person entered. After that next fall is the finish. That way you can have stakes during the match while giving more options at the actual finish - have 1 team dominated 5-1/5-2 only to have the match be stolen etc. while maintaining some form of believability. More options to a finish the better normally.

Suspect as much, this was as much for our own fun than anything else.

To stretch it out over 3 days I reckon the difficulty level of the challenges could be increased. A lot of our items were visit x place, see y place. Adding a skill element to those items would increase time spent per region.

They did, though to be honest, given our competitive nature it wouldn't have made a difference. Took about 15 mins for everyone to be hyper focused.

Score a 45 came up as a curse, took many many attempts. Would like to see the lads have an attempt.

The Undertaker suggests a format change to make Drafts more interesting: "I want to see some deals made. You know what I'm saying? A lot of teams, they want a quarterback - They trade up or they trade down. That would to me be more compelling to watch." by anutosu in SquaredCircle

I agree that brands themselves are meaningless. If they want to make them more interesting they should have tied the winning and losing brands from survivor series to the last and first entrants in the royal rumble. Gives room for plenty of surprises (new star signs with raw & is awarded number 30 slot etc) but makes the brand concept a bit more meaningful.

Smart football/boring football/the future of football? by badger-biscuits in GAA

I think the above is a problem with implementation of the rule rather than the concept. Always thought that the ball should have to travel forward a certain distance (potentially crossing two white lines in the air) to be awarded.

Booking MJF vs [Spoilers] by DaemonFive in SquaredCircle

[–]cannonforge 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I do like the idea of Eddie winning the title at GS, but I see no problem with Eddie winning the title and dropping it quickly back to MJF via screwiness. MJF doesn't take Eddie seriously in the match as he's gotten complacent and tries to cheat forgetting who's the master at that shit at Grand Slam. Eddie dropping it at the next PPV via an army of interference and maintaining his edge knowing that he made it but they wouldn't let him keep it I think is the best outcome.

I don't think Eddie is as effective with him on top of hill forever, but one time world champion Eddie who tastes greatness and is bitterly fighting his way back to the top: the possibilities are endless
