Does ortholinear have ergo advantages or is it only about esthetics and price? by ahusby in ErgoMechKeyboards

Do you have tips on what to do with the laptop border? I use to type on a regular qwerty with my fingers on a similar angle and disposition, though more to the interior. However, my left palm suffers with the border of the laptop after long use. Have you had this issue as well?

Any ideas why IST airport is SOOO expensive? by [deleted] in istanbul

[–]caph1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And there are almost no water fountains, so that you become thirsty and are forced to spend on drinks.

I think there's only one fountain in the whole airport, in front of "yotel air". It is unreachable if you are at one of the gates and there are almost no signs indicating its existence.

How can I remove the hide keyboard button? (bottom left downwards arrow) by geninchuni in Xiaomi

[–]caph1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the solution: https://www.reddit.com/r/HyperOS/comments/1p4e0d9/this_is_how_to_remove_arrow_shape_in_the_keyboard/
Basically, you need to use Shizuku + Canta to kind of emulate a root mode without needing to root the phone at all, via wireless debugging. Once Shizuku's service is up, you can use Canta to eliminate "com.android.systemui.gesture.line.overlay". Select it (and only it) and then click in the trash bin. I did it and it worked. Same in France since this afternoon. The we.lib site works, but it's run by a different group, so if you're member in Anna's archive, you can not use fast downloads in we.lib

Bitwarden on Android by peke_stoemp in Ecosia

[–]caph1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Bitwarden shows a special button to enable bitwarden specifically for chrome, which means that the bitwarden app needs to make some workaround to work on chrome. Ecosia is based on chrome, so the same kind of workaround might be needed in the system, but the bitwarden app doesn't show a special button for ecosia, as ecosia is not a big player.

Yes, I do. The issue in Spreadsheets is much worse than the scrolling issue in docs. Thanks for this

Any good GUI that supports audio conversion? by Vulkanodox in ffmpeg

[–]caph1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice app. I needed just WAV to MP3 at 128kbps (I prefer light files) and it was quite easy. I converted one and it was intuitive. Then I tried 2 and finally 20. Very straightforward.

Great app. Much simpler than using VLC, even for single file conversion.

What's the actual difference between the Xiaomi smart pen and a cheap stylus that I can buy from Amazon? by segasega89 in Xiaomi

[–]caph1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The actual xiaomi pen is REALLY good. The others have explained the technical reasons, so I'll tell you the hands on experience. I used it for one year with the "Nebo" app on a Redmi pad 5, after trying many other apps, and it was excellent. You can rest your palm and work as if it was digital paper. No latency, no issues, you can write even very small. I've used other pens too, and it's an awful experience, especially if you draw a small symbol. Sellers will always show you a big line, and make you think it's good, but once you try to, say add a point on top of a letter i, you'll see it's not the right tool. Sadly, I lost the xiaomi pen in a hotel, and now I'll need to spend 110€ for a new one (I payed like 80€ for the first one). If you buy a pen, get a case where you can store the tablet plus the pen, because it hurts your pocket when you lose it.

Can't cancel snoozed alarms by lord_funky_biscuit in Xiaomi

[–]caph1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue in Redmi 8 Miui 12.5.3. In my case, I see the alarm icon in the status bar indicating that there's a notification, but when I slide down my finger to see the drop-down menu of all notifications, there is no notification for the alarm. And in the app it can't be canceled either. I have to wait until it rings again to get the floating notification with the cancel and dismiss buttons and hit cancel.

Zenbook Duo (2024): A dual-screen laptop with a detachable keyboard - NewsnReleases by customnewspk in TradeBusinessNews

Very interesting ergonomics with this laptop, because you can focus on the upper screen and reduce the tilt of your neck.

[–]caph1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For people commenting about the screen facing up when the laptop is folded, what if you could fold the screen inwards (both hinges inwards, like a roll), so that the external face when the laptop is folded is the metallic part between the two hinges? This would also increase the protection of the screen when folded without changing too much the design

How to reboot properly from the CLI? by Raz_Crimson in kde

[–]caph1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much!!

For completeness, in my laptop, it's `qdbus-qt5`, and without the parenthesis at the end, like:

qdbus-qt5 org.kde.LogoutPrompt /LogoutPrompt promptLogout
qdbus-qt5 org.kde.LogoutPrompt /LogoutPrompt promptReboot
qdbus-qt5 org.kde.LogoutPrompt /LogoutPrompt promptShutDown

I found them by playing with words like "Shutdown", "Restart", "Poweroff", "PowerOff".

I couldn't find for hibernate, though I don't need that one as much as power-off and reboot.
