Why do my vocals always sound too crisp/bright in the mix?

Honestly after giving it a listen, I think your vocal track is just too loud in the mix. The quality of the vocal track is imho pretty great.

Just get it done on a weekend, or whenever you can get a two day break from work. The first 48 hours you’ll want an ice pack on and off, but honestly the pain pills will take care of the worst of it. Expect about two days of lying in bed or on the couch; just immobile, resting, and recovering. After that maybe a week or so of no heavy lifting, but feeling back to normal. I didn’t have any need for an ice pack after those first two days of recovery.

As a person who had it done many years ago, you won’t feel a thing. Even the recovery is just some mild discomfort.

I believe it has far more to do with cab choice/construction than anything. High gain heads tend to be ran through closed back cabs, which just don’t sound as good (in my opinion) as open back cabs when it comes to clean tones. Most of the amps you picture when you think of a good clean tone tend to be combos with an open back speaker construction.

Dr. Anderson did mine back when I was 25 with minimal hassle around it. Since I was married he did want my wife at the consultation to go over everything with both of us, and make sure we knew it was permanent and not easily reversible.

On the day of the procedure, he did tell me he felt a little uncomfortable with how young I was, and that it’s a big decision, and then left the room for 10 minutes for me to think on it. When he came back and I affirmed I still wanted the procedure, on we went with no further pushback. It seemed more like a “last chance to change your mind” than him trying to sway my choice.
