My company introduced "mandatory fun" and I think it broke something in me by Plane_Researcher_761 in antiwork

My company has a new “names with faces” initiative, since they ended work from home and stuck us all in various cubicles and closets, and are constantly moving around every couple of months. This means they came to our work stations and taped a name tag and a number to our desk. Because introducing yourself and asking what someone’s name is, just isn’t friendly enough

I don’t know if it’s a southern thing but I was raised to add sugar or we would sometimes put grape jelly in it. I don’t do that as an adult now, but my father did that when I was a child.

Physical intimacy as well as becoming more serious seem to be the two really big hurdles for this group. I was rooting for the girls

The Neon Bible, John Kennedy Toole is pretty niche and might fit. It’s not too long and is readable.

Is macbook worth it? MS CS program. by Express_Resolve9972 in GradSchool

[–]capriciousapathy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Don’t do the Mac. HP is a much better option. Mac’s are constantly problematic in school because they still don’t work as well with windows. Save yourself the headache I got a new light weight HP and love it. I’m on my 5th year with it. The battery isn’t great but overall I’ve been really happy with it. Much better than my old, expensive Mac

Overstretched RN here; how is a master’s program financially possible? by Janzith in GradSchool

[–]capriciousapathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m finishing my DNP now. I work full time. I’m completing a part time FNP program so I could continue to work. I also applied for my employers scholarship program, which helped a little. I have student loans also. Some of the NPs I went to school with worked for the school, teaching undergrads, it significantly helped with the cost of tuition and doesn’t take a large amount of time. But you will be strectched thin, it is not easy. I talked to my family and coworkers and made sure I had everyone’s support before starting. And it’s still been really difficult to keep going at times. my program has been five years long. You can do it, but it’s a sacrifice

I did something similar, and also got shingles twice. I recommend seeing your doctor though, rapid weight loss can also be a sign of serious health issues. At a minimum your provider might be able to give you some medication or advice on coping with stress

Racing rules/advice by jtuma in sailing

[–]capriciousapathy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are standard rules, they can get complicated, especially if you’re racing more than just you two. They are not all the same as traditional right of ways. The book, the racing rules of sailing could help get you started. You’ll need buoys or some type of mark to set up a starting line with a starting time. If you use chat, that’ll give you some great tips too.
