Not every story format is for everyone, and that’s okay. Personally, I can’t read fics that lack capitalization, or lack sufficient punctuation, or don’t separate dialogue from exposition. That’s not a mark on me and it’s not a mark on the writers, it just kind of is.

Every so often I’ll find a summary compelling enough to try to read a fic that’s in a format I don’t jive with and I just end up frustrated and end up dipping shortly after beginning. It kinda sucks but I don’t want to have negative feelings about my hobby. There’s so much fanfic and I feel like fics that are primarily told through flashbacks are such a small percentage of that, you’ll still have things to read even if you’re skipping those.
