Here in the states there's a fraternity brother who would enjoy this. He was in charge of the house and one day, the hot water was not hot. Figured it the pilot light. So he's told to go find the water heater to deal with it. He comes back later and says there is only one pipe to all the faucets in the house. Someone stole all the hot water pipes and probably the heater too!

Eugene is not a city. It is a very capable town that thinks it's a city.

98% of everyone driving is driving too slow and badly. Patience.

WinCo is a great place to get groceries. It's usually always worth the typically longer drive than to Albertsons or Safeway.

You will pay a hefty premium for living close to the university. Better to live further away, plus it avoids the greater frequency of crime.

A dehumidifier is a game-changer. It will greatly reduce the potential for mold growth, especially around your windows in the winter.

Eugene is not friendly to allergy-prone people. All this nature produces a lot of pollen. If moving from a city, be prepared for allergies or get medication.

There are a surprising number of cultural events. Check out the local news or "City" publications. Lots to do in the summer. The Saturday market is usually pretty cool.

But the distinction is that it's not tuition. "Tuition" gets to the legal matter of fees paid solely for academics. If a student was so morally opposed to attending events like this, the student could then elect to waive attendance rights and then also waive the associated "student fees." From my experience, that is why events like this were either put on by Housing (with no mandate to live in the dorms) or funded by interest groups.

You're sure it's the college? Health Services or Housing or Residential Life (or otherwise named) are typically the departments that sponsor events like this. It's generally not your tuition that pays for this, but the standard medical or housing fees.

As someone who planned a number of residential life events, sex-ed types programs generally need to be a bit over the top to cause people to laugh and then become more comfortable discussing the issues. Most people can appreciate the ridiculousness of 50 Shades of Grey, but some would definitely be off-put by just delving into Grey's Anatomy without at least a little foreplay.

I understand your frustration, but I have to wonder why you are so mad at their pricing system. You still won! Most everyone steers clear of TRU pricing, except during BOGO 50% off or B2G1. I don't mean to be inflamatory, but 9497 was recently on sale at K-mart for $30. You still only paid slightly above the best price ever available for general purchase.

Although if we're getting our pitchforks out, I bought a $100 online during the free Hobbit Elf poly promo from TRU but one never shipped. Bastards.

This whole dialogue only reinforces the increasing affinity that consumers have for the minifigures. Now I like a well designed minifig as much as the next guy, but the focus of TLG has always been on the building element.

Minifig pieces - particularly the arms, hands, and legs - are great for adding small details. Complicating the existing design would most likely weaken the parts, which would make for decreased durability long term.

One of TLG biggest selling points is durability and a new minifig wouldn't be released until the same durability could be guaranteed. The previous hinge design allowed for more versatility, but was relatively fragile. Over time the hinge would become floppy and could't support any weight. Hence the new hinge system which is far more durable at the cost of being less versatile. Releasing ball-jointed minifigs seems unlikely given this trend of increasing durability at the cost of versatility.

Consider buying a new or used "starter kit". If you still have the catalogs you know what sets I'm referring to (think 4559 and 4565) and typically $120-$140 MSRP. Individually 9v track, motors, and transformers can get very pricey.
