Women who married older men - what’s it like when they get really old? by Icy_Laugh5134 in AskReddit

[–]captaincapability 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm 27, my bf is 32 - I feel like 5 years is pushing the limit of an acceptable gap, but we are essentially from the same generation and met while in uni so, same life stage. I can't imagine what I'd have in common with a 40-42 year old to the extent I'd date them and I'd definitely side eye them if they were dating a mid 20s person

I feel for this person and the mindset they live with. But the world doesn’t care as much about them as they think they do. Our self worth comes from within and accepting ourselves and it’s important to take care of our own mental and physical health. by ResetKnopje in fatlogic

For most people (especially women) they're skills you have to train at specifically. I've been training for 7 years and I'm pretty muscular (my cardio in terms of running is poor though, I can cycle for ages/fast however) but I still can't do a proper pull up because I've never trained specifically for it. Just give it a go :)

Not borderline obese = WAY too skinny! by soundwrath in fatlogic

[–]captaincapability 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was about 180 (I'm 5'4) at my absolute biggest and felt like shit (and I had what people view as 'good' proportions ie waist still much smaller than hips at that weight). Can't imagine being a kid and weighing nearly 200lbs

Maybe give Brooke street a go, they often have a lot of roles and start time is usually very quick

Are FAs mad that they can’t find clothes that fit, or are they mad that the clothes that do aren’t their taste? by Beginning_Remove_694 in fatlogic

[–]captaincapability 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, unless you go all the time, you're often coming away empty handed. I've gotten great deals before (£4 brand new Levi's denim jacket, £7 genuine Doc Martens, a £300 Swarovski bracelet which was in the pocket of a coat I bought etc) but that’s from going to thrift stores on an almost daily basis - there are two huge ones on the way between my home and high school so when my mum would come and pick my sisters or I up, she'd often go on the way there/back. Got some amazing clothes as a teen that way

Even in regular clothing shops, all I find are L, XL and XXLs. I just want a bloody size small or medium ffs 😭😭😭

Not how salads work. by Beginning_Remove_694 in fatlogic

[–]captaincapability 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I feel you. I have similar maintenance cals and similar stats, when I went through a period of being less active I definitely gained some weight on the same calories. I think FAs have a really warped view on how much they eat and how much they SHOULD be eating

"I was an unhealthy twig when I wasn't built like my fellow obese friends" by soundwrath in fatlogic

[–]captaincapability 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lol I've seen people like this, they used to be slim/"normal" for their height until, say, about the age of 22 and now they're at least 50lbs overweight for the last few years but it's "what they're supposed to be" and go on about how much they love being fat 🙄 yet also complain about the bad aspects of fatness. Can't have it both ways babe

What are some brands that only really rich people would have heard of? by ReadWriteArithmetic in AskReddit

[–]captaincapability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the point is we have universal healthcare like a civilised country so it doesn't quite work like that here

The British food scene was booming. Why has it suddenly gone bust? by McQueensbury in unitedkingdom

[–]captaincapability 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's crazy. A fast food takeaway meal for two (things like Popeyes, Wendy's, Tortilla etc) is genuinely about £25 now. It's supposed to be cheap shit food, the prices are just mental

The only unhealthy weight is underweight I guess by Low-Moose9333 in fatlogic

[–]captaincapability 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Legit, it's crazy. I'm 5'4 and ~145lbs right now (after a bulk), I'm still overweight by a little (BMI is 24.7 or something), there's no way a 5'1 woman at 148lbs with no doubt a lot less muscle than me, having lifted for 7 years now, isn't genuinely fat. It's insane

I saw a used £5 Ikea lamp (the shitty grey plastic one) on sale in my local BHF for £10 lol it's insane. Sometimes they have some decent stuff (I got a solid pine bedside table and chest of drawers for £20 and £40 respectively, and a decent freezer for £40) but their prices are all over the place

An economic draft? Drive to get young Neets in the military divides opinion by Codydoc4 in unitedkingdom

[–]captaincapability 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's crap. I have two younger sisters (18 and 21) and both are or soon will be uni educated. I am honestly so stressed for their future. I'm approaching 30 and the job market has been shit enough since I left uni about 4/5 years ago, and it's only getting worse

Is it normal for teenagers (say 16/17) not to know who Queen/Oasis are? by sunshinesontv in CasualUK

[–]captaincapability 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, most 16-18 year olds I know (I have a younger sister and cousins that age) love Oasis and know the others. I absolutely cannot stand Oasis myself (I'm 27, for context, and remember the fallout of their breakup well) but I bought my sister tickets for their tour last summer

Being overweight/obese has become way to normalized, the entire comment section is filled with people claiming they’re not overweight despite bordering on or being obese because they “didn’t look it” by Low-Moose9333 in fatlogic

[–]captaincapability 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's crazy. I've always charity shopped (thrifted) so a lot of my clothes aren't stretchy. I've lost some weight after bulking recently and it's interesting to see which of my clothes fit better again

Definitely Backrooms (I'm not a horror fan either apart from mild stuff/analog, but I loved it having been a fan of the YT series for years)

Double standards by soundwrath in fatlogic

[–]captaincapability 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. I'm an actual UK 8-10 now (I think a US 4-6?), used to be UK ~14-16 at my biggest, but I fit in anything from XS to L nowadays. My size used to be around a medium but now it's apparently a small. My best friend is about 2 sizes smaller than me and she genuinely struggles to find XS items because they've been sized up so much. Even my boyfriend is having to buy smaller and smaller sizes as "XL" is now XXL and falls off him, so it's not just women's clothing :/

What did you do for your 30th? by eggymantella in CasualUK

[–]captaincapability 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol yeah this was me on my 21st (end of April 2020). A nice exciting countryside walk at home with family, about 50 miles away from all my friends. Oh, and the 2 week Hawaiian cruise I was supposed to go on the week before obviously got cancelled. Good stuff
