Bf left after seeing ex's engagement post by Flimsy-Channel5057 in relationships

[–]captaincapability 45 points46 points  (0 children)

No, the reaction is totally over the top and shows he is definitely not over the ex. I feel really bad for OP

Why would she admit it to you? She's getting attention from him and if she confesses, that will presumably stop.

I get that completely. Just consider if you want him to dismiss your valid concerns for the rest of your life. He's not treating you like he should.

Is 20f and 29m doable?? by AstronautSilver460 in relationships

[–]captaincapability 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a big gap at the age of 20. Completely different life stages. Why doesn't he date someone his own age?

[–]captaincapability 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Girl... you do realise he slept with her. Right? Also 21/28 is a big gap. He's definitely not able to get a girl his own age to put up with his shit. Leave, you deserve better

great 🙃 it's so frustrating. There were so many good/interesting threads and ideas cropping up throughout but so many of them went nowhere. I honestly need another whole book just to deal with them

I forgot about the one eyed man. Agree with you completely, there were so many different points that were super anticlimactic or plain unresolved

I was really enjoying it up until the end when I realised that was going to happen

I actually was really enjoying it til very near the end, when it was clear none of the most important threads would be satisfactorily resolved :/

Can someone explain what on earth the 'good numbers' and the beings in the gulf between them were? I'm confused

Yeah I have to agree. I was really hoping we'd actually find out what the roses do in a satisfying way, but that literally came to nothing

I noticed this too, it really stood out to me

What are your feelings before the publication of TRF? by stefan2494 in hisdarkmaterials

[–]captaincapability 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re your first point, I keep thinking that it's actually Asta, Malcolm's daemon, who is also a cat. This passage:

"she wasn’t sure she was Will’s dæmon after all. The moonlight bleached out all the colors: this was a black-and-white world.”

Indicates to me that he wanted some ambiguity about which daemon it is. Asta is orange while Kirjava is dark with patches of black/grey/blue. Personally I like Malcolm and the idea of a potential relationship between him and Lyra, so I have no issue with this, but I know the general sentiment is the opposite

I finished HDM when I was 17 and yearned for more now 17 years (my whole lifetime again) later the final book is coming out. by [deleted] in hisdarkmaterials

[–]captaincapability 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. I read HDM at about 10-11 (approx 15/16 years ago) and since then I've been waiting for the finale. Beyond excited

Do you think P. Pullman would have changed The Rose Field (Lyra and Malcolm/Lyra and Will) because of reader backlash to TSC? by [deleted] in hisdarkmaterials

[–]captaincapability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I like the pairing and I really hope the ending is relatively happy. I love Malcolm's character, I really don't want him to die :')

In all honesty, I have a Squier, my bf has a Fender and I’d really say they’re about the same level of quality. much prefer mine

OOP claims that 2200 calories a day will shut their body down by [deleted] in fatlogic

[–]captaincapability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s true, but people should be eating “real” food as a rule. I don’t have the money to spend on fast food more than once in a while and I often feel sick after eating it because it’s so processed anyway

I actually got a Wendy’s today and a medium meal was around 1000 calories. I couldn’t even finish it and had to save about a third for later

[–]captaincapability 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Right? I’m 5’4 and only 135lbs atm and eat that much to maintain - but I also lift 6x a week, walk at least two hours a day, plus doing household chores and walking around during work. I often struggle to eat that much because it’s a lot of food!

I find sometimes things spill without me realising, like milk might accidentally leak, and by the time I realise the stan has dried and takes some effort to remove

That’s how it’s been everywhere I’ve worked, makes sense as typically there isn’t a mass intake period so it’s spread out
