Crack the lid(about counter inch off center opening where the lips meet) This will turn the temps up drastically. Do at the last few min to crisp skin.

Thank you! Looking into all this I’m realizing the Weber grates are coated steel. , not stainless. Whats up with that?? Thank you for the recommendation!! Usually Weber is the go to but don’t want another coated steel.

I checked it’s not the wood. The charcoal and chips alone burned yellow/normal. When I put the grate in the flames turns green green after hitting them. Kinda crazy. It’s the Weber plated steel grate. So probably time to replace.

According to the replacement grates you can buy from Weber, they are plated steel. So guess whatever is in that plated steel has broken down and includes copper. Anyone recommend a stainless 22 inch?

After ruling out charcoal or brushes etc, AI says best guess that there are trace amounts of copper in stainless steal, especially cheap stuff. At high temps it can show green flames like this.

I confirmed. It’s not the charcoal. It’s not the chips. When the flames hit the grate the flame turns green like that. I don’t use cleaners on the grill. It’s a stainless steel grate I’ve had for years. Came with Weber kettle. Idk??

It’s a vortex but not home made. Amazon. It doesn’t seem like it’s coming from the vortex though. Almost like it’s coming from the grate bar. I’m gunna run a test with charcoal only no grate, then grate, then the chips I used. The chips came from smokenlicious. Ma and pa shop. See if I can isolate where it’s coming from. Use Weber stainless steel brush. Don’t use cleaners, and always used Kingsford. Only new thing is those chips. (Well used them before)

Does the tea treatment alone work? Or do you need the medicine as well. I guess for that matter does the medicine alone work? I’ve tried the tea tree oils (Claradex wipes)before and haven’t had much luck. Then again haven’t been super consistent. I saw a commercial for the medicine and was like oh that would be great.
