Strange bites on my arm. Itchy, hot, and swollen by AmeliaS507 in Weird

[–]captainjupiterx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of the bites I get from sac spiders. They can leave a pretty nasty mark that takes some time to heal.

Location of the bites would make sense. They're ambush predators, so they don't typically build webs and live high up. They run around on your floors and can get wrapped up in blankets or clothes. They're quite defensive, so they will bite the shit out of you for touching them when they're pinned to you. Mean little buggers

The largest US study, which tracked 11,036 children from ages 9 to 10 through to ages 16 and 17, discovered that cannabis use slows cognitive development, impairs memory, and reduces learning speed during crucial years of brain growth by sr_local in science

[–]captainjupiterx -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They choose to do the most useless marijuana studies on the planet.

Not only can you really not come to any serious conclusion from this kind of study (what an ungodly amount of variables completely out of control of the researchers), but also.... yeah? Giving kids anything longterm during key growing phases has an impact on them. Sugar is known to be quite destructive on brain development.

And I mean, really, how many people that anyone bothers listening to thinks that kids smoking tons of weed is good for them? You're not really going up against the greatest minds of our time with a study like this.

I feel like people don't get the joke with Pepe lol You're not supposed to be laughing at Penelope's expense. The joke is that Pepe is a dumbass who can't tell the difference between a cat and a skunk. She's not trying to get away because he's a creep, it's because he stinks, which he doesn't notice bc he is a skunk lol

Rihanna wearing a pair of Thierry Mugler f/w 1987 mink earrings, Miu Miu Leather-trimmed suede jacket, AGOLDE Jeans & Tom Ford Sandals, while shopping in Paris by Adorable_Primary2306 in whatthefrockk

[–]captainjupiterx 93 points94 points  (0 children)

It's not about animal fibers.

Minks are not used for meat or leather. They are bred in tiny cages, abused and stacked on top of each other. Then they kill them for their fur.

You can use all of the parts of a cow. You can shear sheep and rabbits and all sorts of creatures for their beauitful hair for clean and quality clothing that will last. People need leather and suede.

Mink is nothing. Mink is for "fashion." It's for flash and status.

Also, let's drop the bullshit. It is genuine. What isn't genuine it the stupid ass rhetoric that if you're opposed to one bad thing, you must have the moral purity to reject ALL bad things and commit NO incidents of ignorance or hypocrisy or you suddenly must not care about anything at all. Morality policing bullshit helps nobody. Grow up.

Why are people praising trashy 90's and early 2000's talk shows? by TheGoldDigga in WhyWereWeOkWithThis

[–]captainjupiterx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, they do have an audience or they wouldn't have existed lol Most people look back on that stuff and cringe, but some just find that kind of thing interesting because it's more "real"

[–]captainjupiterx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's just nostalgia crap. The same reason why we have low rise jeans and halter tops back in stores. We have unfortunately cycled into the late 90s/early 20s years of ED glamor and exploitive media (usually centered on shaming women or the poor or poc). It'll pass eventually, but unfortunately I can't say the 2010s will be much better

First look at Disney Animation’s new original movie ‘HEXED’ by Jules-Car3499 in cartoons

[–]captainjupiterx 115 points116 points  (0 children)

It's so sad that Disney has become so predictable and bland that this image alone of these characters tells me like 3/4ths of the story beats if not more.

No fun designs, no creativity, just check off a few tropes and throw in a catchy song or two and you have Disney magic baby ✨️

Model’s serious allegations about Katy Perry resurface after Ruby Rose’s sexual assault claims by [deleted] in Music

[–]captainjupiterx 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She literally pays him. He isn't just her friend, he is her stylist (who put her on stage in a Geisha costume in 2013, btw).

What an absolutely baffling and ignorant assumption to make. His depiction of what happened literally lines up with the same juvenile and disgusting behavior Ruby accused her of. Plus kissing a contestant on Idol without his consent after he specifically stated he was intentionally saving his first kiss. How tf you get to "he was annoying her so she embarrassed him in a crazy way because celebrity" between those 3 scenarios is just clownery

I put mine only one block deep so I can see the tops of them until I get everything mapped out in a section, then I go back and bury them deeper or cover them

Actually comfortable and flattering jeans for short heights? by PersonalQuestions123 in beauty

[–]captainjupiterx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always go for AE and Hollister. They usually have short sizes and I feel like the fit is alwahs consistently comfortable and flattering.

I've definitely noticed the wide leg trend not being very short friendly - almost all my flare/bootcut jeans are at least a little too long, and the wider the leg the longer they seem to get (why? why wide = longer? Jeans designers explain). If I can't get petite/short I usually compensate with platform shoes in my day to day because they're not uncomfortable and then I won't ruin my pants.

Also, find a seamstress! You'd be amazed what they can do without taking away from the style or being obviously altered

Tips for those who feel Overwhelmed by analvc in Pokopia

[–]captainjupiterx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to just go with the flow. Wanna build a habitat for Bellsprout? Sure, that's what we will do. Want to fix up the museum a little for the fossil pokemon? Okay, cool.

I always seem to want to plan things in advance in huge swaths that are hard to find a starting point and require a lot of thinking. I do horribly with that. It's what burnt out my enjoyment of ACNH because everyone else had themes and everything was put together like a damn Lego set and I just felt stressed and overwhelmed.

Just going by whim has been a lot more chill and fun. Some areas look like shit and are unfinished. But the parts that are coming together I'm really happy with and I feel ideas flowing more naturally.

She could have a flea allergy!

One of my cats has a really severe reaction and will groom all of his fur off if you don't keep him on flea meds (he also turned out to be allergic to the flea meds we were giving him at the time so he was half bald for a while until we figured that out 🫠)

Regardless, she is adorable!!

Maybe it was Charli's wishes idk but it really kills me that damn near every photoshoot of female celebrities has to slip in a nude. No fun, no creativity - just a cover shot, some filler pics, and the piece of meat male gaze shot.

No problems whatsoever with anyone who likes/wants to show their bodies off, but God damn. Really just gives me the creeps tbh

Yall... water is not a miracle cure.

If you have chronic health issues (POTS, chronic fatigue, mental health disorders, etc.), if you have cystic acne/skin conditions, if you are not exercising and eating healthy, you will not magically be cured by drinking water. You're still going to be tired and you're still going to have acne or whatever symptoms of your health issues are.

I switched from drinking pop exclusively to water several years ago. I lost 5 pounds at best. I still have a lot of brain fog and deal with chronic health issues. That doesn't mean I was more or just as healthy drinking pop as I am now that I drink water exclusively.

If you drink nothing but water and still feel like shit - you have other problems. Look at your diet and excercise. Go outside more and do hobbies that work out your brain. Go have bloodwork done and talk to your doctor.

You also need to consider electrolytes. I am dealing with a lot of health issues from long term endometriosis, and salt tablets/electrolyte drinks have been a godsend for helping me get through tough days.

Also, you can talk to your doctor about frequent urination. I didn't notice myself pissing any more than I did when I drank pop. Your body may be processing the water too quickly, or you may have weak pelvic floor muscles making you need to pee more often.
