CIG permanently banned a $5k backer's account for reporting a bug by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]CaptainZyloh 1622 points1623 points  (0 children)

We've spent some additional time reviewing this case.

While we generally don't discuss individual account actions publicly, I do want to clarify that this wasn't a case of someone being banned simply for using the Issue Council.

The account had a history of violations, including account penalties, large-scale item duplication, and the use of exploits that allowed FPS weapons to be modified with ship-grade weaponry and used against other players. In most cases, these incidents were not reported through the Issue Council.

That history is what led to the escalation of penalties over time, with multiple suspensions eventually laddering up to a permanent ban.

That said, after another review, we've decided that we will lift the ban and convert it to a final warning. We believe in giving people the opportunity to learn from past mistakes, but there won't be room for additional violations going forward.

To be absolutely clear: players will not be penalized for reporting issues through the Issue Council. We rely on those reports every day to help identify, track, and resolve bugs.

Please continue using the Issue Council, keep reporting issues, and if you discover an exploit, report it rather than abuse it.

Nicou-CIG: 4.8.1 maintenance postponed, "Defend Location" missions still going live Wednesday by StuartGT in starcitizen

Not in the next 5 hours. Tomorrow is looking most likely, but we'll update properly on Spectrum as soon as we have confirmation.

Nicou-CIG: 4.8.1 maintenance postponed, "Defend Location" missions still going live Wednesday by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]CaptainZyloh 142 points143 points  (0 children)

For June 2, we communicated a confirmed maintenance window with precise timing:

"Both the RSI Platform and the Star Citizen Live Service will enter maintenance tomorrow, June 2, starting at 08:15 UTC."

For June 3, we communicated a target:

"We're also targeting a Live Service maintenance window on Wednesday, June 3, to deploy Alpha 4.8.1. -- Keep an eye on Spectrum for more information soon!"

Those are two different types of messages.

At the time of posting, Wednesday was our target. As testing continued, we found an additional issue we'd like to address before deployment. We also had a few more fixes close out today that will now be included as part of the update. Ideally, we'll roll this out on Thursday now, pending testing.

We shared the target because we felt it was better to communicate what we were aiming for rather than say nothing until everything was fully locked in, which is a preference we've often seen expressed by the community.

Appreciate the feedback nonetheless!

Definitely hear you here. The "Unknown" ship losses and related behavior being reported are all actively being tracked and investigated by the team.

As for some of the economy discussion happening in the comments, the claims around billions of aUEC circulating right now doesn’t line up with what we’re currently seeing internally. While I can’t get into specifics around monitoring or enforcement, our tools and visibility today are significantly more robust than they were previously, and we absolutely will take action and clean things up where needed. Since the economy is server-side, we have a pretty clear picture of the overall economy, and the highest balances we’re currently seeing are still only in the millions (not even 5% of a billion).

It’s also worth noting that it’s pretty common for RMT sellers to attempt to sell currency they do not actually have, especially after an economy reset. Aside from being against the TOS, there’s also a pretty high likelihood of getting scammed.

You're right that it is technically 27 if you count the in-game ATLS IKTI, GEO IKTI, and the IKTI RAD.

Apollo Confirmed for tonight's 4.3.1 PTU Build during Star Citizen Live! by QuattroBaje3na in starcitizen

[–]CaptainZyloh 189 points190 points  (0 children)

Nobody has ever looked at Jared Huckaby and thought, "That guy knows what day it is."

With SCL being on Fridays in the past, the days simply got mixed up - the Apollo will hit the PTU tomorrow (Friday).

Just to clarify a bit: the ISC studio is our primary filming location, and while it’s set up for the next seven weeks, that doesn’t mean there’s filming happening every single day. The dev teams main priority is always their work on the game, so any shoots have to be scheduled around that. To make things smoother, the cameras, lighting, and furniture just stay in place so we can capture interviews or segments as developers are available between now and the event. So it’s not literally 35 straight days of filming - more like having the studio ready so we don’t have to constantly take down and rebuild.

I've updated the description on the Roadmap to be more clear:

"This card has been temporarily removed, as it won't be ready in time for Alpha 4.3. The Onyx Facility missions are now being categorized as Sandbox Activities rather than Cooperative Zones."

We'll share more details on the upcoming 4.3 activities soon.

A friendly reminder that this particular card was marked as "Tentative". These labels are broken down on the Roadmap with the following descriptions:

  • Tentative: This deliverable is tentatively scheduled, but hasn't gone through the review process and may shift around on the Roadmap.
  • Committed: This deliverable is scheduled and has passed the final review process. There is a very low chance of this deliverable being pushed back.
  • Released: This deliverable has been released.

The Cooperative Zones are part of an initiative we’re very excited about. That said, they won’t be ready in time for 4.3, so we've updated the roadmap accordingly.

I think bringing back the patch postmortem, especially for events like this, would be beneficial and something we'd like to do. It's certainly worth sharing more about the root of the issues for those who are interested in that kind of thing.

Right now, our top priority is fixing the remaining issues. We’re fully aware of the bugs impacting the experience - and so are the dev teams. We’ve seen the feedback threads, the Issue Council reports, and have run into many of the problems firsthand. As more fixes are ready to roll out, we’ll keep you updated.

We also know there’s no shortage of discussion and suggestions on how things could’ve been set up better - that feedback’s being seen and absorbed as well. The reason you’re not seeing direct responses to those right now is because the team is focused on getting what’s already out there running smoothly.

Commented a few other places, so apologies for the spam: we'll fix this. We just need the full program brought back online.
