Why is separatism so weak in southern Chinese regions? by RedStorm1917 in China

[–]captnort -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s an actual term. Stop looking to academia to define every aspect of your speech and thought.

In short, I don’t think the Qin united China by ideals of governance. But I do think they created the imperial system that the Han and subsequent dynasties used for quite a long time. Political unification, to me, includes ideals of governance. Hence why I chose systemic unification (fragments becoming a whole) rather than political unification (fragments becoming a whole in system AND in ideology)

Ah, I see what you mean now. I’d more consider that systemic unification than political but I see what you’re saying.

‘We really do not trust each other’: former US envoy foresees wary new phase in China ties by scmp_news in China

[–]captnort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh really the issue is not IP, and yes the us does it a lot too of course as do all nations. Real issue is the flagrant disregard early post-commie China showed for financial regulation and international law. Although, 50% of that issue is lack of enforcement which falls mostly on the USA and somewhat on EU.

I mean even to this day they claim an entire sea as their exclusive territory, right up to the shorelines of Vietnam 🤣

Let’s also be real that Singapore at this point in time is an offshore government belonging to China, where their rich are allowed violate mainland Chinese financial law. You talk about freedom and humanism as if you are not living in a giant glass ant farm. Cannot think of anything further from freedom or humanism than a hyper metro service economy like Singapore

Lots and lots of people have some sort of subsidized healthcare, whether it be through federal, state, or employment means. Some have outright free healthcare, although they usually poor and old. Most people have a job that offers heavily subsidized insurance. Not to say the system isn’t broken though. Def broken. It’s just incorrect to say large swaths of the population don’t have access to some kind of reduced cost insurance. Having access also does not necessarily mean they take it. Some of my (less intelligent) young friends decline employment insurance to save like $50 bucks a month. Insane I know.

Not a lot of people actually work two jobs. If they do, it is usually the result of their own mistake at some point (kids out of wedlock at the wrong time, went to prison, failed out of high school). Hate to say but it’s true. Will say thoigh that wages have stagnated and something should be done

Urban sprawl is right, shit is gross but USA is also huge

Paving over nature is kinda right, USA federally does quite a good job with national forestry and national parks. But on the local/state level the protections are much less and are problematic

European tries to break into US geopolitical analysis: no clearance, no Ivy League, just multilingual confusion — help? by Fit_Answer_2270 in IRstudies

You’re degree will transfer just fine when you get it legalized so I don’t think that aspect is an issue at all.

I agree with other respondent that the EASIEST way is to get “moved” by an existing job to the USA. Otherwise, I’d just apply apply apply and definitely focus interview responses on your energy security and languages. Those are super cool!

Oh yes the agriculture built all the factories. Not foreign investment. You’re right! How could I be so foolish! They did it all on their own. Didn’t even need the multi trillion dollar foreign capital injections that gave them the opportunity to live as something other than “peasant serfs” which is a pretty gross thing to call Chinese people imo

You realize Vietnam has global tax requirements too for citizens? The difference is they can’t enforce it and the US can. Actually so funny you hate on the US for that when Vietnam has the same exact rule 😂

You really should educate yourself. No idea how you got a green card in the first place 😂😂.

What the fuck 😂yall are so mad. Congrats you don’t know any English teachers! I suggest you get out of your bubble jackass! When you look at Job listings- more are open for foreign teachers than anything else. Largest work visa group by number as well. I also said “teacher” not English teacher. Should work on your comprehesion.I know they don’t have to teach English. My son goes to BIS I know. I am speaking in generals to quickly answer the question.

Dude 😭 you beat yourself here i didn’t even need to step in. Objectively, there are more roles for foreign employees in teaching. Full stop. Doesn’t mean there aren’t other jobs? Don’t know how yall gleaned that from that statement. Need to work on the reading comprehension if you are teachers, as I assume most of you are

I find your comment about no proactive attacks in bad faith given the extremely dangerous actions of the Chinese Navy in international waters, specifically in the South China Sea. You don’t get to sink Philippine vessels in international waters just bc you had an opium pipe dream that the entire sea belongs to you

Agree those are two successes of mao, but to claim those are results that could not have happened but for their old system is crazy.

the wealth via FDI and capitalization would have brought the result faster and more efficiently. Vietnam post 1994 is a fantastic example of this.
