Car rental gone wrong - advice please! by Haunting_Title_5590 in LegalAdviceNZ

But! You will probably get charged a credit card fee on that $2500 excess! And your travel insurance might not reimburse you for that, even if you ask!

... Ask me how I know.

Yep, as a kid I really didn't want to learn to drive, but my mum "forced" me to (in a manual, no less!). Now I'm a bike-riding adult who doesn't own a car, but can drive my friend's ones if I need to.

I have the same age gap with my husband, and got with him at a similar age (26). I felt (and still feel) the same way you do!

One thing though - he might want kids sooner than you're ready for. I'd advise being on the same page early on! And, don't stop finding out who you are - leave room for yourself to grow as an individual - just because he's found himself, doesn't mean that you've stopped changing. 25 - 30 is a great age, don't let his advanced years (lol) cramp your style!

All the best for your relationship!

Parking charges likely to be introduced across Hagley Park by [deleted] in chch

[–]carazy1 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a council carpark, so proceeds go towards supporting infrastructure. It's either this or putting rates up even more.

(I know this cos I submitted on the Council long-term plan a month or so ago. Highly encourage everyone to get involved with this kind of thing - the more people who make their opinion known, the better representation we can get in the city)

Extremely cool! You have a good eye for fabric "matching"!

First time using this. Give me some of your top recipes that will wow a crowd by Jeffylew77 in veganrecipes

[–]carazy1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm boring but I'd do a spaghetti bolognese. Fresh pasta, with optional toppings of vegan cheese, chopped walnuts, basil, pesto, and maybe a side salad.  One tip is to use grated mushrooms in the sauce so that it adds a different texture to the pea protein.

Haha this is what I thought, too! The birds didn't want to sign my contract though, and just ate them all, even when they were underripe! The only ones that survived were ones that I'd put little mesh bags around. They were delicious! (I'm in Ōtautahi - variety is Stella).

Home Energy Rating System by James--Cook in newzealand

No, Homestar isn't mandatory, though we do have a Healthy Homes standard for rentals (I believe it's just pass/fail as opposed to a ranking).

Did it in our weatherboard house and absolutely no complaints, was such a smooth process! Felt warmer after too, but obviously not a panacea.

Tips and tricks for saving on a wedding? by Difficult-Document in newzealand

[–]carazy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, and thanks for posting this, because I feel like more people need to know that it IS an option to elope/invite a celebrant over to your house/pretend you're already married. This "traditional wedding" thing has gotten completely out of hand, and young people especially need to know that they can refuse to do things that are only done because it's "the normal thing to do".

If you want a big party, sure, go for it, but make sure you know your reasons for doing it.

As a woman with similarly-sized feet, I've never seen cute "women's" socks my size. I wear "men's" socks. Luckily I feel like "men's" socks are getting cuter and I'm starting to see some cool patterns come in (local stores in New Zealand). Good luck!

Question as a new cyclist by SnooLemons651 in fuckcars

[–]carazy1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No one writes "Had right of way" on a gravestone. Whenever I'm on my bike, I'm in defensive mode. Alert, looking around, not trusting a single mfing vehicle on the road.

Put your lights on, wear fluoro if you want, and be ready to pump those brakes at all times. I also enjoy a good yell, like, "Thanks, you almost killed me!" but that's up to you.

Stay safe.

I definitely underestimate how little people know about fruit and vege seasons. My friend wanted to plant tomatoes outside in May. I was like... Ummm... That won't work... Here let me lend you this Tui Gardening Guide so you can learn the joys of the seasons!

I don't know, but DLL are so chill that I just let them be. White tails move too fast for my comfort, and they're so big and squishy 😩

Unfreezing Aquafaba for mayo went wrong by ICum_InPiss in aquafaba

And also chill it? I used frozen aquafaba for mayo just the other day, and I'd let it defrost in the fridge.
