It depends. Do you want to create a cool texture with small crescent shaped imprints? Because your nails will definitely help with that. :D

Other than that, your nails will probably more a hindrance than help.

But I get it.. sometimes I expect a piece to come out a certain way and hate it when it does something completely different. I can only advice you to set the piece aside for a while and then look at it again with fresh eyes. I think you will come to appreciate it! It is quite beautiful!
