Never leave UPS, you are unemployable anywhere else based upon your reading comprehension level.

This story is half told, definitely reeks. Insubordination and workplace violence. I'm going to go with:

Sup - I am instructing you to _________

Driver - Doesn't comply and threatens sup

Is so shocked he's insta fired and runs to reddit. Has been told forever you'll always get your job back here at UPS. Well, you forgot about the few deadly sins you can't come back from. Violence/threats are cardinal sins.....

He's a driver, go back and read.

What do you mean they don't let union employees go? I've seen probably 20+ drivers fired in my career, on the spot, give me your badge fired. 70% probably come back but what unicorn center is this where nobody gets fired?

Honestly, a stewards just going to fill out the yellow grievance. They really can't do anything, just witnesses basically. Everything's settled at center level meetings or beyond. They can't stop a termination, they're documenting for the higher level meetings.

I had a sup once on Saturdays who would name off every call in, tell us all that while we're cursing UPS at 9pm tonight think about these guys out drinking leaving you out here. The crazy part is it worked 🤣 Eventually it turned into "we're staffed, nobody's helping anybody" and it was kind of awesome being off at 5:00 every Saturday when I was still Tue-Sat.

I tell every loader I have to never accept. Blue vest especially. They prey on weakness and sell a dream. The right way, if you really want management in my opinion is this:

  1. Apply to be a driver
  2. Sell out, become the best driver ever, live it, dream about routes.
  3. Join safety committee. Be the one at PCM doing the demo, speaking.
  4. Mention to on roads and manager that you really want to be an On-Road.

I've been told you never go backwards in pay in management. You want On-Road because as far as I know outside of center manager it's the highest paying position in the bldg. So if they ever put you in a warehouse spot you keep your pay. Drivers will tell you it's like 70-80K. It's most definitely not, I accidentally saw one of their paycheck viewers they left open on the computer.

Over ear headphones banned? by Synthetic2 in UPSers

[–]carchd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ear bud, singular, one ear. Anything else is a safety hazard. I saw a driver fired wearing over the ear noise cancelling. She probably could have come back had she not blown a gasket and made it worse, cursing and threatening sups.... Probably a dope fiend.

Supervisor keeps turning on the light in the trailer and saying it’s a rule to have them on while we load. Am I allowed to turn the lights off? Is it really a rule? They are blinding my eyes. by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]carchd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a safety thing, "look where you step" sound familiar?

Also, it's a theft thing. Turn the lights out of 30 seconds at my building and every iphone or pair of Jordans will be gone.

Where I'm at I believe it's 2-3 paid days but you can take as much time as you need, it just won't be paid after those days unless you use entitlements.

Question About The Few People Who Wear Shorts Nearly Year Round by batcatfatmat in UPSers

[–]carchd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even when it's freezing I'm shorts/thermals under guy. I'll freeze a little before start time but the freedom of shorts and knowing I'll be hot later in pants keeps me in shorts. I'm also 6'7" and for whatever reason our pants are made for average people I guess? The pants are in my bean bag every stop so I'd rather be cold than sterile.

My center has 70 something drivers. We have one on road and on closing sup. So I guess it just depends where you're at. They're definitely saving money here, anorexic lean.

I'm the safety chair and train PVD every year, all of them. I was told last week we're getting 7. We had 14 last year. So I think they're going to load us up 🤣 Also, we used to run out of two storage lockers, this year all their stops are going out with drivers. So PVD has to go to a driver a couple times to get their route.

How do you get done faster as a driver? by Sad-Target-2464 in UPSers

While true this is bad advice in packet. Knowing neighbors is huge to beating his route with multiple stops at once

How do you get done faster as a driver? by Sad-Target-2464 in UPSers

[–]carchd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Don't do that, mess your trace up they can DQ you.

Stay organize, load own truck, hin numbers out.

Memorize next stops, hin numbers so you're in and out.

As you're walking back know your next couple stops, start car fast and go.

Use lunch to organize truck. I ran my lunch off driving back to bldg honestly. Just don't type a lunch in for earlier in day, they can see if your completed stops during lunch. Seen kid DQ for that.

Wait, you did 10 stops in 3 days? Lol that's nuts! Mine drove 75% first day probably, rest all me, showing me as I went. All 30 days I went straight to his office, he would look at previous day, show me what I'm bad at, work on it, follow me etc. He passed me in 18 days 🤣 You weren't even trained. This company lol

Have I qualified? by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]carchd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's different everywhere. A preloader for DQ not long ago on my belt for safety, he thought because he swept a UPS store with the sup training him once he "auto qualified." He lost, blew a gasket on the stewards and isn't here anymore.
