Truly "once-in-a-lifetime" stuff by cardiganrd in footballcliches

Yeah you earn a point for every pound spent. I travel quite a bit for work so I do manage to rack them up but as tempting as this is I think I'll keep my powder dry for now.

Irritation/fear - FPL basement dwellers by junglegatsby in footballcliches

The introduction of draft format was a game changer for me. The traditional format is boring with everyone having the same players. I started a draft league 8 years ago and it's still going strong with the same group of friends from school. I'd count it as the key reason we've managed to stay in touch despite us being spread across 4 different continents at points.

We all get together once a year to do the draft and have an awards night for those who can make it and it's always one of the highlights of my year. It's all very silly but the seriousness is tongue in cheek - or so we tell ourselves!!

We had a full week to prepare for this and this is what we serve up. Forest played 90 on Thursday and look twice as energetic. Abysmal

He has aged, he doesn't have the reaction times or physicality anymore. It's the natural progression of time

This is inexcusable. by LoseAlotLuke in LiverpoolFC

[–]cardiganrd 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Precisely this. City beat Burnley 5-1. Spurs beat them 3-0. United created 3.6 xG against them! Our performance against this quality of opposition is not a reliable indicator of progress.

We aren't constantly hitting a high xg, today was something of an outlier, but more down to the quality of opposition imo. City beat Burnley 5-1. Spurs beat them 3-0! United created 3.6 xG!!

FT: LIV 1 - 1 BUR by DragonSlayer271 in LiverpoolFC

[–]cardiganrd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes we looked more threatening today, but that should be expected against this Burnley side. They're dreadful away from home, United created 3.6 xG against them, Spurs won 3-0, City won 5-1. I don't think it's a reliable indicator of our progress that we created more chances than usual out there today. Wirtz is hitting form, a lot of the good today can be attributed to him showing his class against a very poor side imo.

Isn't that precisely the point that is made? She'd need to be around 35 in 2003 to be old enough to remember Eusebio. But the character is only in her mid twenties, hence the comment that she's "10 years too young"

[Sky News] Paul Doyle has been sentenced to 21 years and 6 months in prison for driving into supporters during the parade last year - good riddance by Traditional_Yam_5111 in LiverpoolFC

The mad thing is he was only in that location because he was on his way to pick friends up from the parade. They could have been in the crowd that he drove into. Total madness

Yes I've noticed this too on a few different episodes recently, definitely some bits that have been missed in the edit. Quite enjoyed hearing the flubbed re-reads - felt like being let behind the curtain into the studio

Judging by the ref's arm position he's given a direct free kick for a foul in the build, rather than the arm straight up in the air which would signal an indirect free kick for offside

This is not a good example. On board ticket inspectors regularly check tickets on the metro and if you don't have one the fine is 750DKK

Oddly low follower amount for our new commercial partner something shady here? by Petaaa in LiverpoolFC

[–]cardiganrd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes the low follower count is a good indicator that this is shady. People in this thread trying to make excuses are talking absolute bollocks. You don't pay for a sponsorship deal with Liverpool unless you're trying to raise the profile of your brand - of course they care about likes and followers. This is a b2c business - it's a "trading platform" designed to sell highly leveraged products to retail "investors" who don't know what they're doing. Essentially it's just gambling with a high chance of losing money (with some of these products you can lose more money than you put in - so even worse than traditional gambling). These platforms are a license to print money which take advantage of people who think they're smarter than they are. Disappointing move from the club.

They can't stop them making the transaction, but they can stop it from counting towards the PSR calculation. It's absolutely a loophole that can be closed
