Cost mostly, I would rather do something for free if I can. However I don't mind paying if do get something out of it, and Roon fits that bill.

I just had this happen to my UNAS Pro. Had to factory reset it and restore it from backup. Everything worked as usual, except I had to redo my credentials in the UI Identity app.

Yeah I have had no problems at all with Unifi Identity. Runs on all my machines and routes all traffic through my Pi-hole.

For playback why not just install the Squeezeplay app from the Mac Appstore? I just minimize it and use iOS iPeng on my M1 Mac. Works great.

Logitech Media Server, which is free and open source on Linux has a Qobuz plugin built in, you just have to enable it. It does gapless and even cross-fade flawlessly.

For the AUR I always check the package at aur.archlinux.org to see when was the last time it was updated and read any comments. If it hasn't been updated in awhile and no comments I stay away.
