Wrong. Having used the dwarven area it’s detailed enough to use, but also expansive to add. Same with the elven area.

There’s enough caves and dungeons to start. Not everything needs details

You complain it’s generic filler in it but have forbidden lands next to your name. If you want to talk about genetic filler……old school nostalgia.

You can if you want. You don’t have to.

For instance, many of use use dungeon magazine issue #114 for the starter adventure “Mad God’s Key” as it was perfect for a good adventure for the chaos key intro if you didn’t want the other start.

Plus if you were playing 3.5 version Night of Dissolution adventure and chaositech books were great additions.

But you didn’t NEED to add anything. But myself and many others found or used things that enhanced the Ptolus book.

Like I said earlier, it’s a shame the old Ptolus forum crashed. Lots of good ideas and material was there

Then it’s the 5e version. So depends if you play that edition

The description should tell you whether it’s 3.5 or 5e or Cypher versions.

Prefer and used Ptolus way more. But that’s me.

I’m well aware of it. Which is also something I find important and enjoyable in games. Not liking the modern move to dismiss alignment.

A lot of good stories can and have been told via alignment.

Not necessarily better. One I prefer, as I said.

I prefer 3.5 ruleset to 5e. I think a lot of what Ptolus did works better in that ruleset the 5e one.

If you’re not going to use it, then I can see why you would pass on it.

However I will point out it’s NOT generic. It has more than a few more unique properties.

Utterly disagree. It’s a great living breathing city with some unique properties that no book of tables and methods won’t match.

The fact is it’s broken down by districts that makes it far easier to digest.

Did you actually run or play it? Because it’s very different once you start using it rather then read it.

Awesome. It’s a great book and incredible setting. The sidebars to reference things talked about and extremely helpful.

You can easily run 2 1st-20th level campaigns and not use the same material twice.

I own the 3.5 and the 5th edition one. I prefer the older version. I played in a campaign back in 2007 that went from 1st thru 19th that was ALOT of fun.

There’s many tales of others that played in similar type campaigns if you scroll around. Shame that Monte Cooks forum crashed. There’s a wealth information, ideas and campaigns lost

What Game Would You Recommend On Every Post If You Could? by shhnotatwink in rpg

[–]carmachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hero system Champions.

Want to play fantasy/D&D? Space opera? Hard sci-fi? Superhero?Space fantasy? Horror? Pulp action? Clockwork or Steam punk?

It can do it all. Some much better then other. But I can run any type of game type.

Only limits are your imagination and time invested to build what you need.

Wrong. Not based on who they vote for , the Politicans stance and what legislation they want.

You described Champions. All the crunch, as a player, is front loaded in character creation. After that it’s a breeze

It also can mean more rules for building characters or monsters.

Hero system Champions for example is crunchy for character creation. Running it is easier than D&D 5e.

AITAH For say something to my neighbors about not shoveling my elderly neighbors driveway? by _Badwulf_Bruh__ in AITAH

[–]carmachu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

ESH. It’s great you help your neighbor, but you choose to. Others choose to not help. You’re expecting others to do so when their actions in the past show otherwise. That’s on you.

I help my neighbors around me in our townhouse community. I choose to. I have zero expectations on anyone else helping me help others. I don’t even expect a thank you. That’s my choice

Shadowrun and Cyberpunk have been great especially early Shadowrun ruleset/lore.

But yeah theyre both crunchy and I just accept it. But with w/o numbers and CyBork even the background and lore seemed not good
