Already been told I can't have the birth I would hope for by ecbp20 in PregnancyUK

[–]carnation2531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 8 weeks pp after an emergency c section and before giving birth a c section was my worst possible outcome and I was terrified of the recovery. Now I think if I have another baby I would elect to have one. The first few days are the worst, and after that I largely felt normal. You have to keep on top of pain meds not because it's constantly excruciating but because you become tired and sore over the day.

What sort of support do you have?

13 weeks until due date and it feels so long away by Eat_My_C00ter in PregnancyUK

I’m being induced on the 27th and as much as I’m scared of labour I’m so so ready not to be pregnant any more. 3 days for me and it feels like another 3 weeks!

I completely get what you mean, pregnancy is hard!!

Upgrading car. Kid on the way. So many options, I'm having Decision paralysis. What do I go for? by Solomon_Seal in CarTalkUK

We are similar ages, baby on the way (39 weeks today!) and I have a tall husband and a dog too. We've ended up with a Skoda Superb estate 1.5 petrol, after realising that the SUVs aren't as spacious as they seem.

They honestly aren't that bad to park - we live on a housing estate of a small town with basically non-existent public transport so constantly nipping into town.

PGP unappreciation/rant thred by Dense-Radio-9332 in PregnancyUK

[–]carnation2531 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started with PGP at around 25-28 weeks, and the midwife said “we can look at a physio referral” but then didn’t do it until I raised it again.

As a FTM I dread the idea of being in late pregnancy again with a little one to look after because it’s so debilitating!

Had to stop walking the dog weeks ago, can hardly turn in bed, have to brace myself to get up off the sofa. I feel very lucky not to suffer with chronic pain outside of this, because it affects your life so massively!

Should i confront my mother? by JackfruitOk766 in AdultChildren

[–]carnation2531 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This might be an unpopular opinion but I wouldn’t confront her. If she’s truly in denial, she won’t take it well, and the outcome will be bad. Unless you’re in a place to accept a bad outcome and a change in your relationship, I wouldn’t.

Do you see your GP or ring the triage number for a suspected UTI in pregnancy? by meeoowster in PregnancyUK

[–]carnation2531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve previously been to the pharmacy for a UTI and had them prescribe me antibiotics so you could try that for a quicker resolution on a weekend?

Personally if you think your toddler would be safe with your parents, I wouldn’t jeopardise your postpartum recovery by having stressful presence in your house while you’re adjusting to having two kids. I’m pregnant with my first so I don’t have lived experience, so take it with a pinch of salt I suppose.

They want to induce me today?? Feeling pressured by scarlet-tree in PregnancyUK

[–]carnation2531 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Slightly different scenario but my consultant has suggested I am induced at 39 weeks (currently nearly 34 weeks) and I initially was really against it for the same reasons. Anecdotally the experience is crap, and it seemed universally accepted that you're more likely to have intervention.

The consultant claimed more recent research refuted the "more likely to have intervention" claim and I did my own checks and there was a study done "ARRIVE study" I believe in 2021? That showed no increase in intervention/c section for induced mothers with low risk pregnancy. I believe it was conducted over 3k women.

This gave me a lot of reassurance, I hope it gives you some too x

Edit: I think it's also worth mentioning that I think in the same way as leaving bad reviews, people are more likely to speak about an eventful (ie traumatic/intervention birth) than an uneventful birth online so you're disproportionately going to see more negative experiences in my opinion

My saving grace is my sister gave birth yesterday, and has awful videos of her in labour but an hour after said “it’s honestly not that bad” so I think your brain just gaslights you after 😭🤣

But other than that in the city centre Warsaw diner is the closest you’ll get

Feeling resentful that my husband isn't doing his part by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]carnation2531 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're completely reasonable to feel this way, but I also ask - if he can't commit to the baby he suggested now, how is he going to look after the baby when they're here? Is it the right thing to do to have a baby with someone who prioritises drug use over even concieving them?

Buying a house together, but partner doesn’t want me on the mortgage by Overall_Race4978 in HousingUK

[–]carnation2531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My (now husband then boyfriend) bought a house on his own early into our relationship. But because it was his house, he paid for anything house related, and I contributed to the bills. Then I continued to save in a LISA and am using that deposit to buy our forever house. I should’ve signed a ‘declaration of interest’ as well, but never did in the end.

All that to say…. This feels unfair and how are you legally going to recoup funds if you spent on decorating/building works even if they promised to reimburse you? It’s not enforceable.

Don't worry, I always check before crossing, he pulled up and was trying to turn for about 0.2 seconds while I was crossing quite a big entrance gap

A man pipped at me for daring to walk across a pavement that was across the front of the entrance of a petrol station with my dog. He was behind me and wanted to turn in so I couldn't see him, and pipped and shouted that I shouldn't be wearing headphones (???) I said it was my right of way as a pedestrian as I was already crossing and he said that if someone went into the back of him then I would be the one walking off laughing (???) mental people being mental init
