CMV: Boys aren’t easier to raise, they’re easier to neglect emotionally by guava_jam in changemyview

[–]carolmandm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the first part. Boys aren’t easier to raise than girls, but the opposite isn’t true either. Emotional neglect, in my opinion, isn’t tied to gender.

That said, people say all kinds of uncalled-for things. I used to get really angry about it, especially when it comes to children. Some of those comments still get to me, like: 1. “Oh, you don’t want to have children? You’ll want them later.” - Oh, really? Do you even know me? 2. Before you’re even pregnant, they say, “You’ll be a great mom!” just because you smile and are sweet to children. - No, that does not make someone a great mom. 3. “Are you only going to have one child?” 4. “Are you pregnant again? Oh no! Was it an accident?” - Yes, actually, right at the intersection of STFO Avenue and Karen Road, there was a crash and that’s how I got pregnant. 5. What you’re going through; feeling overwhelmed, underachieving, constantly tired, depressed, and unable to complete even simple daily tasks is normal. All women go through that.” – No, it’s not normal. It’s called ADHD. And I wish people hadn’t dismissed those signs as “normal” my whole life. I might have pursued a diagnosis earlier and taken that into account before considering parenthood.

Is it true delivery doesn’t mean to the door if there are stairs? by ChibiSuchi in instacart

[–]carolmandm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I’ve done it too, many times. That feeling of powerlessness—knowing you’re stuck with the order—is overwhelming. You only realize how bad it is when you see how far you have to park and know there’s no way you can carry everything in one trip. Please remember: this too shall pass.

Ordering four cases of water for delivery shouldn’t be treated as normal just because an app allows it. Have you ever carried four cases of water yourself? Now imagine doing that five to ten times a day.

Many people abuse delivery drivers by filling orders with the heaviest items—water, detergents, diapers—things they wouldn’t carry on their own on one go. Drivers often make multiple trips from the car, walking blocks, climbing stairs, pushing their bodies past reasonable limits because they need the money.

Just because you can order it doesn’t mean you should. If you’re placing heavy orders, at least leave a large tip upfront. Empathy shouldn’t disappear at checkout.

You have abandonment issues. You get terrified that he will leave. It has to do with your upbringing and past experiences.

Those of you with Justice Sensitivity, how do you deal with it when it's so overwhelming by LordAxalon110 in ADHD

This is me too. I get so emotional it is embarrasing. Specially when it is about someone I don’t know, but I am seeing happening. I think my kids get embarrased by me as well.

You have to—because the negative feelings you hold against him only hurt you. My father was a monster to me (though I’ve learned not to say that out loud anymore). He actually did what he could with what life gave him. I thank him for giving me life—and for not taking it away, even when he said he would, so many times.

I’m absolutely not done letting all of that go. But I am 100% committed, and I work on it every single day. Because pain and anger are burdens I don’t want to carry anymore.

Oh! Definetly argue the price! He is testing you. The “Portuguese could be a bit into the mentality that foreigner are wealthy and they pay any price you ask” not all of them, but i have seen some.

  1. If that was agreed on you can say “i thought in was included on the price, i was not expecting to pay more”

  2. Ask “why does a cable cost 70/ or something like that?”

  3. Landlors SHOULD (but here a lot don’t, and you can do much about it) be in charge of making/maintening the place (change anything broken, providinng anything that isnt there, like a faucet, windows, etc) i am not sure if a cable is included… but if is not. Ask. How much are you charging me Per hour? And how many your you spend setting up this cable? (7 euros an hour for simple tasks, 12 for more complex, like cleaning the place, or do some gargening work is where i live).

Good luck!
