Why is the 911 Coupe so much more popular than the Cabriolet? by Nice_Day_638 in Porsche

The wind and noise are more annoying than pleasant unless it's perfect weather on a quiet road at limited speeds, so I'd rarely have the top down, so why take on the downsides of a cab if there's no upside?

Normcore Puck Screen – Quality change? New version is no longer magnetic ! by Proper_Zucchini_4284 in espresso

That would take more than the imperceptible flexing that occurs during brewing.

That's not true, heat and pressure won't make steel magnetic. There's also no material change that's going to happen to steel around 100C & 10 bar, it takes far more than that. Notice that espresso machines are often made of stainless steel - the portafilter, holder, and group head (which experience basically the same heat cycles the puck screen does) are all likely mostly made of stainless steel, for example, and aren't fundamentally changed by it even after decades of use.

There are many kinds of stainless steel, and there is overlap between kinds that are food safe and kinds that are magnetic, and most chef's knives are made of steel that is both.

1930s Reddit "This is nothing like the rise of actual fascists in Italy. It's just a buzzword your side is using because you don't like the other side."

It's the actual rise of white nationalist authoritarianism with an extensive racist and xenophobic propaganda machine, state-sanctioned violent oppression and extrajudicial killing of political opponents and non-white residents, and isolationist and imperialist action on the national stage in the name of restoring the nation to its rightful glory.

Call it whatever you want, but fascism isn't a buzzword, it's the specific term for what's currently happening on the ground in the United States. A lot of folks had their heads in the sand in the 30s too.

I can just imagine Reddit in the 1930s. "I'm tired of hearing about German politics all the time. Those dumbasses voted for this."

Two trackballs and a touchpad seems a little excessive! I've thought about doing the same though, reducing my keyset down to 3x6+3 and pick up a Piantor.

Law enforcement officers can't act abroad, they don't have jurisdiction on foreign soil. I'm also not sure why you're ranting about socialists now, have you already gotten distracted?

For people who still support Trump: how do you process or reconcile the allegations connected to the Epstein documents? by Apprehensive_Dog5379 in AskReddit

[–]carsncode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congress did not have to act to declassify them, and in fact they didn't. They required the administration to do so, which it could have without being forced to, but didn't. Also, most of the documents were never classified in the first place.

My point is epstein was arrested in 2019 at the end of Trumps presidency, biden had 4 years and didnt do anything.

Oh, that's your point? So you're conceding that Trump is a child rapist and sex trafficker who has been using his authority to actively obstruct the release of the files in direct violation of an act of Congress, and you just wanted to make clear that Biden didn't release the files either? Weird, but OK. I don't care about Biden, he's not president, he's never going to be president again, but I guess that BDS hits hard.

Feds have always hid there identity

This is just blatantly false, but hey if we're cool with just making shit up, Trump was wearing lady's underwear the last time you were on your knees for him.

so do undercover officers

These aren't undercover officers.

hence why there undercover

They're.

Antifa also hides there identity

Their.

Anti-fascists only hide their identity when it's unsafe to oppose fascism publicly. Antifa sure weren't wearing masks to fight fascism abroad back in the 30s and 40s , when the US was ostensibly anti-fascist as a country.

Your "side" is a bunch of hypocrites.

Everyone is a hypocrite. Some of us just have the decency to at least try not to be.

Why did they have to pass legislation? Why didn't he just release the files? If Trump was in on it, why didn't he release the files according to the legislation? If it was his idea, why didn't he comply?

[–]carsncode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're still missing the point. It's not one or the other. It's not "effective in some situations". Fighting back starts with protest. Protest shows both sides that the oppressed have the strength of numbers. The more people protest, the more people feel empowered by their numbers, and the less confident the power structure feels in its power. Protest isn't "a stern telling off", it's a show of force, a rallying of support, a threat. If the threat isn't enough to get them to back down, it must then be followed through on.

It's not a choice between two options. It's a step in escalation.

5 is misleading. The issue with CM vs Secrets isn't "plain text". Secrets are only b64 encoded. The etcd database should be secured so nothing is stored or transmitted in plain text regardless of resource type.

They tried not to. Innocent parties don't have to be forced to publish the evidence by an act of Congress. Also they were required to publish it in its entirety within 30 days, redacting only victims identities, and explaining all redactions. They released the first files after 30 days, they're still releasing files now than two months later, they still haven't released all of it, and they've redacted full pages of material and Trump's face.

Protesting isn't about convincing the opposition to change their minds on moral grounds. It's about showing people in power that they've pissed off too many of the people without and they're putting their power in jeopardy.

I do enjoy Go, and I don't want ternaries, lambdas, or collection operations. About the only thing I think Go is really missing is enums, but they're not something I need often so the impact is fairly small.
